A milestone in American history.

In 2016, Secretary Hillary Clinton became the first woman to accept the Democratic nomination for president from a major U.S. political party.

Nearly a century after women won the right to vote, her nomination marked a historic moment in the ongoing fight for equality and opportunity.

As we celebrate Secretary Clinton’s 79th birthday, we’re looking back on the moments that defined her legacy and the ideas that still inspire change.

“Women’s rights are human rights.” A message that changed the conversation.

In 1995, Secretary Clinton delivered a landmark speech in Beijing, calling on the world to recognize women’s rights as human rights and urging action to advance equality for women and girls.

More than 30 years later, her words remain a powerful call to action.

As we celebrate Secretary Clinton’s 79th birthday, we’re looking back at the moments that defined her legacy and the ideas that continue to inspire change.

“I want to build a football team where everybody is taught that if we work together, we can be better than everybody else.”

President Clinton shared these words about the power of working together at the Little Rock Touchdown Club, where he joined Jerry Jones earlier this week as Jones announced a $10 million gift from his family to support the modernization and renovation of the Clinton Presidential Center.

That spirit of working together will help carry the Center’s mission of education, public service, and bringing people together into the future.
