Meet Carmen Vos, Assistant Principal

👉 "How long have you been working in schools, how long have you been at MPA?"
I've been in education for over 15 years and have had a mixture of roles. I started in the classroom but spent most of my career mentoring teachers, supporting academic and socio/emotional education systems, leading family engagement projects, and program development/strategic planning.
👉 "What is your favorite part of your job at MPA?"
Without a doubt, working with the middle school students! They are at such a fascinating turning point in their lives. Being able to support them navigate their journey from kids into independent young adults is the absolute best.
👉 "If you could have any other job for one day, what would it be?"
I would love to run a soccer-based humanitarian program worldwide, combining travel and community education to give kids a better future through the game.
👉 “What is a fun or unusual fact about you that most students don't know?”
A huge turning point for me was living in San Cristóbal de las Casas, Mexico, during my senior year of high school. The way the community showed support of each other and its resources is exactly what drives the way I build relationships and support our school community today.

Meet Carmen Vos, Assistant Principal

👉 "What is one thing that makes you smile during the school day?"
What makes me smile most during the school day is witnessing youth helping youth. There is immense joy in watching genuine peer collaboration and interaction across our K-8 spectrum. It shows that our students aren't just absorbing academics; they are actively practicing empathy, leadership, and community. Those quiet moments of human connection are the absolute best part of my day!
👉 What would you like the MPA community to know about you?
As the new Assistant Principal, I use restorative practices that bring people together to resolve conflicts, learn from each other, and take real ownership of their actions. I view my leadership role as additional support in building a culture of mutual accountability, learning, and grace.

I extend this collaborative spirit beyond the classroom to our entire community. My goal is to break down silos—partnering closely with guides and families so we all speak the same language of respect and hold each other accountable to our shared Montessori values. By building these deep connections both inside and outside our school walls, we ensure our students see a united community modeling the exact empathy and integrity we expect from them."
