Stop using your device right away if the battery smells strange, is warm to the touch, makes popping noises, changes in shape or color, or if you see smoke. If it is safe, move the device away from anything that can catch fire. A damaged battery can overheat and start a fire. For more info: fpw.org.

Charge large items like e-bikes, scooters, and power tools outside when possible. Do not block exits when charging. These batteries store more energy, and fires can grow quickly if they fail. For more info: fpw.org.

Fire Prevention Week activities and invitation for residents to join the Call Firefighter Company.

Parade - The department will kick off Fire Prevention Week with its annual parade on Sunday, October 4 at 6pm. The parade will begin on Redington Street and travel to the Littleton Fire Station.

Open House - Littleton Fire Rescue will also host an open house on Saturday, October 10, from 10am to 2pm. The community is invited to visit the station, meet firefighters, and learn more about joining the call company.

The “Battle of the Badges” is again on tap for Saturday, October 10 at 5pm at Apthorp Commons between Littleton Fire Rescue and Littleton Police Department. Members are playing to raise money and awareness for the Pink Patch Project assist patients and families affected by breast cancer through Littleton Regional Healthcare.

Littleton Fire Rescue is seeking new call members and inviting residents to learn about the opportunity during Fire Prevention Week.

Call members are an integral part of the department’s emergency response. They train with fellow firefighters, respond when additional personnel are needed, and help protect their neighbors during emergencies. The department is looking for people who are willing to learn, work as part of a team, and make time to be involved. No prior fire or EMS qualifications are required to apply. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a valid driver’s license, be healthy and in good physical condition, have a clean criminal record, and have time to participate in training and department activities.

“Our call members make a real difference for the people we serve,” said Fire Chief Chad Miller. “You don’t need to arrive with firefighting experience. What matters is a willingness to learn, train, and be there when your community needs you.”

Applications can be picked up at the Littleton Fire Station and will be reviewed on October 13. Anyone considering applying is encouraged to stop by, meet department members, and ask questions about the commitment.
