WILDFIRE SMOKE AND WEATHER UPDATE

A strong Florida nor’easter is expected to develop Friday evening and bring breezy conditions through Tuesday. The strongest winds are anticipated Sunday and Monday.

Suwannee County may experience sustained winds of 10–15 mph, with gusts between 20–30 mph. Depending on wind direction, smoke and ash from the ongoing wildfire in Hamilton County may travel into our area.

Hamilton County Emergency Management provided this update from the fire scene:

“The fire line was completed last night, and crews are continuing to work this morning. The fire has reached approximately 2,000 acres. Winds of up to 30 mph are expected, which may cause smoke to travel varying distances. Fire personnel reported very limited visibility at the scene this morning.”

Live Oak residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning. Please stay calm, remain aware of changing conditions, and use caution if smoke reduces visibility.

Stay indoors if you have respiratory issues.
Call 911 (tel:911) if you see heavy black smoke or flames.
Suwannee County Emergency Management will continue monitoring conditions and providing updates as needed.

Did someone say Fire Prevention Week? Sparky did! 🐾🚒

Today, our A Shift firefighters visited Suwannee Pineview Elementary to teach students about fire safety, smoke alarms, and evacuation plans.

Each year, our crews visit local schools to help students learn how to stay safe and what to do if there’s a fire. Thanks to the students and staff for having us!

***FOUND***

There are a lot of fire hydrants in the City of Live Oak, so trying to find a challenge coin sitting on one is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

With that being said, here is a different angle of the Fire Hydrant in question.

Don’t forget, if you find it, you keep it! But make sure to take a picture showing everyone (including us) that it’s been found.
