Public Notice: Police Training Exercise
The Lockhart Police Department will be conducting active shooter training exercises at Lockhart Junior High School today, October 12 and Tuesday, October 13 of next week.

Residents may notice an increased law enforcement presence at the campus during these training sessions. This is a planned training exercise only, and there is no emergency or public safety threat.

We appreciate the community’s understanding as our officers participate in this important training to enhance their skills and preparedness. Thank you for helping us share this information and avoid unnecessary concern.

👮 Join the Lockhart Police Department!
Serve your community and make a difference! The City of Lockhart will hold a Police Officer Civil Service Exam on October 30, 2026, to establish an eligibility list.

💰 $10,000 hiring incentive for currently TCOLE-certified peace officers! Certain conditions apply.
Pay and opportunities:
✅ Starting officer pay: $32.68 per hour, increasing to $33.53 after one year
✅ Lateral entry pay available for previous certified peace officer experience
✅ Opportunities for additional certification, education, longevity, assignment and shift differential pay
✅ Uniforms provided; uniform allowance for detectives
Benefits include:
🏖️ Three weeks of vacation leave and three weeks of sick leave annually
📅 Twelve paid holidays and one personal holiday
💙 Retirement, life insurance and health insurance
🚓Take home vehicle policy

🎓 No experience or certification required to apply! Selected applicants may receive paid cadet wages of $24.93 per hour and tuition expenses while earning TCOLE certification. Certain conditions apply.
