IMPORTANT NOTICE

Opening of One-Bedroom Public Housing Waiting List

The City of Lockport Housing Authority (CLHA) will receive applications for its one-bedroom Public Housing waiting list beginning on:

October 27, 2026 at 9:00 am

Applications will be available and may be returned at 301 Michigan Street, Lockport or 45 Ontario Street, Lockport, in person, by mail or by fax (716)434-6303.

Our one-bedroom properties served by this waiting list include: Willow Gardens, Autumn Gardens (Phase I), and The Spires. The waiting list is restricted to one or two-person (in a relationship) households with incomes not exceeding $56,850 (one person) or $65,000 (two people).

All other CLHA waiting lists, including our family unit Public Housing (Gabriel Drive, Beacon Heights and David Woody apartments) and Housing Choice Voucher (Section Eight) remain closed until further notice.

Save the date! Our annual Halloween event will take place on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 from 4:00-5:30 pm at 301 Michigan Street. This event is open to the community and will feature costume contests, candy giveaways, a haunted house and more.

This year’s Junior Police Academy concluded on August 28, 2026 with a graduation ceremony celebrating 24 successful youth “cadets.” The ceremony wrapped up a week-long camp designed to foster strong, positive relationships between resident youth and local law enforcement officers.

Throughout the week, cadets worked side-by-side with members of the Lockport Police Department, participating in daily physical fitness training and simulated police obstacle courses. The comprehensive program featured specialized tactical demonstrations by Lockport Police officers, emergency response demonstrations by the Lockport Fire Department, and an educational presentation from an FBI representative detailing the dangers of social media. Cadets also received a special civic introduction during a visit to Mayor Lombardi’s office.

We would like to thank all of the Lockport Police officers who volunteered their time to mentor this year’s class, with special recognition to Officer Julie Snyder for her continued dedication in coordinating the academy.

The Lockport Housing Authority community is saddened to announce the passing of long-time Board of Commissioner member Gerald (Jerry) DeFlippo. Jerry served on the Board since 2007, serving as Chairman from 2015-2025 and was currently serving as Secretary at the time of his passing.

Jerry was truly dedicated to the housing authority's mission of providing quality affordable housing to the community and strongly supported our resident programs, especially our annual Junior Police Academy.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the DeFlippo family and to all those touched by his dedication and kindness.

The Lockport community has lost an amazing person. "Bob" Ray volunteered tirelessly around the community with his only reward of seeing the smiling faces of those he affected.

Due to the weather conditions, Lockport Housing Authority offices will be closed tomorrow. Maintenance staff will report for snow removal duties and emergency repairs.

SANTA! We know him and he will be stopping by on Wednesday, December 10th from 3:30-5:30. Please bring your family for pictures and activities. This event is FREE and open to the community.
