In the month of August the Locust Grove Fire Department responded to a total of 93 calls. Of which we had 20 grass fires, 5 structure fires, and 16 motor vehicle accidents.

While volunteering their time for these calls, our firefighters also made time for driver/pumper training, and air management training, and we had 4 firefighters take a 21 hour class NIMS 300.

Let’s give a special thank you to our firefighters for donating their time to help our community! The Locust Grove Fire Department would also like to give thanks to our neighboring fire departments, police departments, dispatch, and medical services for all that they do!

πŸš’ A Look at the Locust Grove Fire Department Fleet

We wanted to share a little information about the equipment that helps our firefighters protect the Locust Grove community and surrounding fire district.

πŸ”₯ Structure Fire Engines
β€’ 3 engines
β€’ Each engine can pump up to 1,500 gallons per minute (GPM)
β€’ Each carries 1,000 gallons of water

πŸ’§ Water Tenders/Tankers
β€’ 2 tenders
β€’ Each carries 3,500 gallons of water
β€’ Each can pump up to 500 GPM

🌾 Brush Trucks / Grass Rigs
β€’ 4 brush trucks
β€’ Each carries 300 gallons of water
β€’ Each can pump up to 250 GPM

🚨 UTV
β€’ Carries 75 gallons of water
β€’ Can pump up to 25 GPM

πŸš‘ Medical/Command Trucks
β€’ 2 trucks equipped with medical supplies and command equipment

🌊 Water Rescue
β€’ 2 rescue boats available for water emergencies

All of this equipment gives our department the ability to respond to a wide variety of emergencies, from structure and grass fires to medical calls and water rescues.

As a point of reference, a typical residential structure fire uses less than 4,000 gallons of water in total. Our combination of engines, tenders, and other apparatus allows us to bring a substantial amount of water and pumping capability to an incident.

We are proud of the equipment and, more importantly, the firefighters who operate it to serve and protect our community. πŸš’πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
