During the month of September, members of WTFD were busy outfitting, stocking, and training on our new Engine 111.

Engine 111 was placed in service last month and is now our first-due engine from Station 1.

This apparatus is equipped with vehicle extrication tools, an on-board cascade system, and a light tower.

Apparatus Stats:
1998 Pierce Saber | 750-gallon tank | 1500 GPM pump

We are committed to serving the residents and visitors of Washington Township and throughout Hocking County and are happy to add this apparatus to our fleet.

🔥 OHIO SEASONAL BURN BAN REMINDER 🔥

Washington Township Fire Department would like to remind everyone that Ohio’s fall open-burning restrictions begin October 1.

🍂 FALL: October & November
🌷 SPRING: March, April & May
⏰ NO OPEN BURNING: 6:00 A.M. – 6:00 P.M.

These seasonal restrictions are in place during times of the year when dry vegetation, leaves, wind, and changing weather conditions can allow fires to spread quickly.

Please use extra caution with any outdoor burning, know the regulations before you burn, and help us protect our homes, property, and community from preventable fires.

🚨 WATER RESCUE RESPONSE 🚨

Washington Township Fire Department would like to recognize and thank all of our members who responded during last night’s severe weather and flooding. Our crews worked throughout the night and into this morning conducting water rescues, assisting residents, and checking flooded homes throughout the area.

Washington Township crews worked alongside Laurelville Volunteer Fire Department, Federal Firefighters of Ross County OH Local 1631 (VA Boat 1), City of Logan Fire Department, Hocking County Sheriff's Office, and Hocking County Emergency Medical Services.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Hocking County 911 for their outstanding work coordinating calls, communicating with crews, and keeping resources organized throughout a very busy night.

We also want to give a special thank you to Hocking County EMA and Director Mark Edgar for their coordination, assistance, and continued support throughout the incident. Having everyone working together made a tremendous difference during a challenging situation.

Most importantly, thank you to our Washington Township volunteers who left their homes and families in the middle of the night and spent countless hours helping those in need. Your dedication and commitment to our community does not go unnoticed.

Incidents like this show just how important teamwork between our local agencies is. Everyone involved did an amazing job, and we are proud to have worked alongside each of you.

🇺🇸 WE WILL NEVER FORGET — SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 🇺🇸

On this anniversary, Washington Township Fire Department remembers the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, 2001, including the 343 FDNY firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice while answering the call.

We honor the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, military members, and countless civilians whose courage and selflessness were displayed on one of our nation’s darkest days.

Twenty-five years later, we remember their names, their bravery, and their sacrifice. May we never forget the families who lost loved ones, the first responders who carried the weight of that day forward, and the unity our nation showed in the days that followed.
