Harrison County 911, Iowa

10/15/2026

On October 13th, 911 Dispatch came to visit our 1st grade class. The students were taught how and when to call 911 in an emergency. We would like to give a special thank you to 911 dispatch operator, Megan Mickelsen for coming to teach the students.

📚🚨 Learning about 911 starts early! 🚨📚

Our dispatcher Alyssa has had the opportunity to visit with two first-grade classes so far this school year—one at Logan and one at Dow City! 💙

She spent time teaching the students about what 911 is, when to call, what information dispatchers need, and why it’s so important to stay calm and listen to the dispatcher’s instructions during an emergency.

We love getting out into our communities and helping our youngest citizens learn how 911 works! A big thank you to both schools and their first-grade classes for being such great listeners and asking such awesome questions! 👏📞

Keep learning, keep asking questions, and remember—when you need help, we’re here! 💙🚨
