La Purisima Mission State Historic Park is the eleventh Spanish mission in California. There is something for everyone to enjoy at the La Purisima Mission.

It is the most restored mission in the state with nearly 2,000 acres and over 25 miles of hiking trails. La Purisima Mission State Historic Park offers a variety of historical and natural sights from the beautifully restored mission buildings to the 25 miles of scenic trails. Come out and join us for our free public guided tour, Wednesday-Saturday at 11am, and Saturdays and Sundays at 1pm, or the many scheduled events offered throughout the year.

😎We’re excited to announce that La Purisima Mission State Historic Park’s summer Junior Ranger Program kicks off at 10 AM this Wednesday, June 17th!

🦅This Wednesday’s topic is “All About Birds.” Junior Rangers will learn about different types of birds, which species call La Purisima Mission home, their wingspans, and engage in other fun activities.

🕐These free programs are designed for children ages 7 to 12 and typically last about 45 minutes to an hour.

✅Please check in at the picnic tables located outside the visitor center to participate.

👨‍👧‍👦An adult must be present for the entire duration of the program.

Join us on Saturday, June 13 from 10:00am-12:00pm for a Guided Nature Hike. This engaging hike will highlight some of the local wildlife, native plants and historic features of La Purisima’s backcountry and is part of California State Parks Week.

Join us for the Summer Junior Ranger Program at La Purisima Mission State Historic Park! Discover history, nature, and adventure in the great outdoors!
 
Programs are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays from June 17 through August 1 (except for July 4, July 8, and July 25). Designed for children ages 7 to 12, these family-friendly sessions are packed with fun, learning, crafts, and activities!
 
🆓Best of all, these programs are completely FREE!

Come explore the mission grounds with your family and friends, and participate in engaging, hands-on demonstrations.

Activities may include corn grinding, candle making, blacksmithing, spinning and weaving, leather production, gardening, as well as a Chumash life station that offers visitors a chance to explore Chumash culture today.

These unique days provide an excellent opportunity for the public to learn about California’s mission history, as State Park staff and volunteers showcase various elements of its history.

We hope to see you, along with your family and friends, at Demonstration Days!

Explore the Spring blossoms and pollinators of the Burton Mesa Chapparal with celebrated ecologist conservationist Denise Knapp.

This 2.5 mile easy to moderate hike along through soft sand and gravel road along the Cuclillo de Tierra (upper loop) trail of La Purisima Mission State Park. Long pants, close toed walking shoes, hat, sunscreen, water and umbrella are recommended.
