** UPDATE:
Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that Wayne Baker age 59 who was reported as missing on October 23rd, and last seen on October 21st has been located deceased off Payne Trail Road, 2 miles east of London on October 24th, 2026 at approx.. 12:14 P.M. Laurel County Coroner’s office along with Deputy Carly Dorraugh were on scene. The body will be sent to Frankfort for autopsy to assist in determining the cause of death. A Death investigation is continuing by the Laurel County Sheriff's Office. Assisting on the investigation is: Deputy Zach Strong, Capt. Richard Dalrymple, Captain Chris Edwards. Also assisting were: London Laurel Rescue Squad, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, Laurel County Emergency Management/Laurel County Department of Public Safety, Laurel County Coroner’s Office. The event will take place in the large parking lot located on the far side of the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office building.

** M**h, and promoting contraband arrest:

Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that : Laurel Sheriff’s Deputy Robert Smith arrested Jessica Marie Moore age 39 of Ott Road, Corbin early Friday morning October 23rd 2026 at approximately 12:41 AM. The arrest occurred in a business parking lot whose business was closed off US 25W approximately 10 miles south of London Deputy Smith while on patrol observed a black Mustang stopped in the parking lot and made contact with the driver conducting a welfare check. During the contact, Deputy Smith located the driver in possession of suspected m**hamphetamine and pills. The driver identified the pills as Suboxone. Jessica Marie Moore was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance – 1st Degree – 2nd Offense – M**hamphetamine Possession of a Controlled Substance – 3rd Degree. This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center. Photo of accused attached is courtesy of the Laurel County Correctional Center. As this individual was being booked into the detention center, Detention staff located a glass pipe(Normally used to smoke m**hamphetamine) in her undergarments. Jessica Marie Moore was additionally charged with promoting contraband – first degree. Bailiff Roy Ball assisted on the investigation.

** M**h arrest:

Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that : Laurel Sheriff’s Deputy Robert Smith arrested Danny J. Lawson age 37 of Swafford Drive, London On Thursday night October 22nd 2026 at approximately 11:17 PM. The arrest occurred on KY 1223 approximately twelve miles south of London after Lawson was observed operating a lawn mower traveling north on Highway 1223 with no tail light on the vehicle. During the traffic stop, the driver was found in possession of suspected m**hamphetamine. Danny Lawson was charged with possession of a controlled substance – first degree – first offense – m**hamphetamine. This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center. ** Fta arrest:

Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that : Laurel Sheriff’s Deputy Robert Smith arrested Krystal Langley age 48 of Walker, KY Early Thursday morning October 22nd 2026 at approximately 12:35 AM. The arrest occurred on KY770 approximately eleven miles southwest of London after this subject was charged on a Bell County bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court. ** Dui 2nd offense /m**h arrest at traffic safety checkpoint:

Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that : Laurel Sheriff’s Deputy Arnold Arnett arrested Shannon Manuel Canada age 38 of Back Street, Woodbine, KY early Thursday morning October 22nd 2026 at approximately 12:14 AM. The arrest occurred on KY 770 at the intersection of KY312 approximately 11 miles south of London at a Highway Traffic safety checkpoint being conducted by the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office. This individual traveled to the checkpoint in a red Dodge Dakota where he allegedly gave deputies a false name and false date of birth. In addition, deputies noted that his eyes were bloodshot and glossy and his speech was slurred. As the investigation continued the driver was found in possession of two hypodermic needles and a substance believed to be m**hamphetamine. When asked, the driver stated he had used m**hamphetamine. It was also determined that the driver was wanted on two outstanding warrants . Shannon Manuel Canada was charged with:
Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – second Offense; possession of a Controlled Substance – 1st degree – 1st offense – m**hamphetamine; possession of Drug Paraphernalia; no operator’s license. In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court. Also this individual was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging non payment of court costs, fees or fines.
