Today, LCFD Lt. Peyton Eldridge & Firefighter Kenneth Barger enjoyed spending time with the students at Cornerstone Christian School. They shared important lessons about fire safety and prevention!

From learning about firefighters and their equipment, to understanding what to do in an emergency, we hope the lessons shared today will help keep these young students safe.

One of the most rewarding parts of serving our community is having the opportunity to educate the next generation. You never know when a simple fire safety lesson might save a life!

A special thank you to Cornerstone Christian School for inviting us and to the students and staff for the warm welcome!

Today was a busy day for the Laurel County Fire Department, and a great example of what volunteer service looks like.

Our members started the day at Cold Hill Elementary for First Responders Day, spending time with students, talking about fire safety, and sharing a little about what we do.

Then the calls came in for citizens needing help.

Since Noon today, LCFD has responded to 6 emergency calls.

LCFD is 100% volunteer. Six times since noon, our volunteers stopped what they were doing, and answered the call for someone in our community who needed help.

Whether we’re teaching our children about fire safety or responding to emergencies across our district, the mission is the same: serving and protecting our community.

To our citizens, families, businesses, schools, and organizations, thank you for standing behind your volunteer firefighters. Your support makes our service possible, and we’re proud to protect the community we all call home.

👉 Support your local volunteer firefighters.
Get involved, lend a hand, and help us continue protecting our community.

🔥 Fire Prevention Week is October 4–10, but fire prevention doesn’t stop when the week ends!

At Laurel County Fire Department, we encourage everyone to make fire safety a year-round priority. This year’s message, “Charge Into Fire Safety,” is a great reminder to use lithium-ion batteries and charging devices safely.

Take a few minutes to check your chargers, batteries, smoke alarms, and home fire safety practices. Small steps can make a big difference.

🚒 Fire prevention is everyone’s responsibility—every day of the year.
