The City of London Fire Department began its story in August of 1922 at a City of London City Council Meeting. The need arose after numerous fires in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries destroyed many properties in London. The first department had 11 members and a 1924 Ford Seagrave delivered in 1925. Through almost of all of the Fire Department’s history, the Fire Stations have primarily resided on Broad Street until the current β€œStation One” on Dixie Street at the old location of the First Presbyterian Church. The new station was completed in 2004 and is a state of the art facility. The London City Fire Department now has four Engines (E-2, E-3, E-4, E-5) and one Aerial (A-1) 2005 E-One 114’ Bronto Skylift.

πŸŽ€ ALL SHIFTS. ONE CAUSE. πŸŽ€

London Professional Firefighters, IAFF Local 5534 is proud to announce that for the month of October, all shifts will be wearing pink duty shirts in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

These shirts were provided by IAFF Local 5534 and the London Fireman’s Club as a way for our department to show its support for those affected by breast cancer and to help bring awareness to a cause that impacts so many.

We wear pink to honor survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and stand alongside everyone currently fighting.

All three shifts are completely different, each with their own personalities, traditions, and dynamics. But when it comes to supporting our community and standing behind a cause that affects so many, we stand together as one.

This October, we proudly wear pink. πŸ’—

πŸ”₯ FALL WILDFIRE HAZARD SEASON BEGINS TODAY πŸ”₯

The London Fire Department would like to remind everyone that Kentucky’s Fall Wildfire Hazard Season runs October 1 through December 15.

During this period, Kentucky law restricts outdoor burning between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. when the fire is in or within 150 feet of woodland or brushland, except when the ground is covered with snow.

⚠️ Please remember:

* Burn only during permitted hours and conditions.
* Never leave a fire unattended.
* Have water or other extinguishing equipment readily available.
* Avoid burning during dry or windy conditions.
* A burn ban may impose additional restrictions beyond the seasonal burning restrictions.

Help us protect our homes, property, and community from preventable wildfires.
