Today, the LPD participated in an opioid awareness and Narcan training event at the Longmeadow Shops. The event was organized by Ananda Lennox, Director of CLOSE, LPD Lt. Michael Jurkowski, and Sgt. Robert Lombardi.

In addition to opioid awareness and overdose prevention training, attendees explored the “Hidden in Plain Sight” trailer, presented by the Alex Fisher Foundation. This mock teenager’s bedroom helps parents recognize common places where drugs, alcohol, and paraphernalia may be concealed, providing an important tool for prevention and early intervention.

We're happy that so many people stopped by, including State Representative Brian Ashe and Select Board Member Dan Zwirko.

Thank you to CLOSE Community, Kelly and her team from The Alex Fisher Foundation, and everyone who participated in helping raise awareness and strengthen our community’s efforts to prevent substance misuse.

The LPD is asking for the public’s help identifying the person(s) responsible for abandoning three small dogs in a cage overnight at Wolf Swamp Fields.

The dogs were discovered this morning by a passerby; LPD responded and we transported the little ones to our local animal shelter. Thankfully, all three dogs have been examined and are currently healthy and receiving care.

Abandoning animals is unacceptable. We are actively investigating and need to identify the person responsible.

If you have any information about these dogs, saw anything suspicious at or around Wolf Swamp Fields overnight, or have information that may help identify those responsible, please contact the LPD Detective Bureau Anonymous Tip Line: @ (413)567-3311 - Ext. 9157

We're extremely grateful to State Representative Brian Ashe and State Senator Jake Oliveira for securing $50,000 in state funding to improve ADA compliance in our Police station’s interview room.

This investment will make our station more accessible and functional, ensuring everyone who interacts with the Longmeadow Police Department does so in an environment that is safe, professional, and accommodating. Thank you to our state legislators and town leaders for their continued partnership and support!

Today, our officers joined members of our community at the Longmeadow Fire Department and Yeshiva Academy to honor those we lost on September 11, 2001, and remember the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice.
