Beginning Saturday, September 26 at 7AM, Woolworth Street will be permanently closed between Williams Street and the Williams Middle School parking lot to accommodate construction of the new Longmeadow Middle School.

Woolworth Street between Bliss Road and the Williams Middle School parking lot will remain fully open and will not be affected by this closure. The existing Williams Middle School parking lot will remain open and accessible for staff parking. Access to the parking lot will continue from the north via Woolworth Street.

Motorists, pedestrians, and area residents are asked to use caution, observe all posted signage, and follow traffic control measures in place around the construction area.

Due to a truck breakdown, Waste Management will be recovering some of Thursday’s route on Friday. Please leave carts out for collection first thing in the morning. Streets to be recovered include Ardsley Rd, Woodsley Rd, Overbrook Dr, Shaker Rd, Mill Rd, Crest Ave, Druid Cir, Brookside Dr, Fairhill Dr.

The Longmeadow Community Preservation Committee has announced it is now accepting applications for project recommendations utilizing Community Preservation Act Funding. Applications are due to the Town Clerk's Office no later than Tuesday, November 10, 2026, for possible consideration at the Spring 2027 Annual Town Meeting. The Recycling Center's Yard Waste Pile is moving to West Road to allow the old DPW on Pondside Road site to be prepped for demo.

Residents with a Recycling and Yard Waste pass may bring their yard waste to West Road. Hours of operation currently continue to follow the Recycling Center. Saturdays 8am-5pm, Sundays 10am-5pm, and Wednesdays 10am-5pm. Any dumping outside these hours is not permitted.

Waste Management will be recovering some of Wednesday's route on Thursday. Streets to be recovered include Longmeadow Street, Wheelmeadow, Ely Rd, Longview, Sylvan, Summit, Bark Haul, Lawnwood, Massachusetts Ave, Fairview, South, Sunset, Bellevue, and Elm.
