Weather Update for Longview / Gregg county: 8-21-22
Update:
~Rain is on it’s way for Longview/ Gregg county over the next 48-72 hrs.
**Some storms may be severe with wind and hail. Gregg/Harrison/Upshur all remain under a flood watch. **Rain totals have been update. Attached diagrams will show new forecasting for our region within the last 2-3 hrs. Pray it comes gently. It would likely greatly impact our level 4-5 drought.
**Storms are currently south of I-20. Most moving to North-Northeast

NWS Shreveport has issued a special weather statement:
A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of SWMarion,
Harrison, NW Panola, northeastern Rusk, SEGregg Counties - Upshur counties. through 600 PM CDT...
****At 457 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7
miles southwest of Tatum, or 12 miles northeast of Henderson, moving
northeast at 30 mph.
***HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph and half inch hail.
***IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is

NWS Shreveport has a issued a Flood Watch has for parts of the region from 7AM Sunday through 7PM Monday. This incl: Longview/ Gregg county. Heavy rainfall will be possible with rainfall totals as much as 3”-6”w/ isolated higher amounts possible - 8”+.
Stay alert. Keep your NOAA weather radios ON! Prepare for possible flash flooding and slick roads.

Attention: Longview/ Gregg County and surrounding areas. Our region estimates are for 8+ inches of rain. This will produce flooding and slick roads as everything is so dry. NWS Map below good thru 8-27-22.
A very wet period will begin across the Four State Region starting on Sunday and continuing through at least the middle to later half of the upcoming work week. Some hefty rainfall totals will be possible that could result in rises on our area waterways and flooding if rainfall rates become significant.

Pray for rain! We have a slight chance today Saturday 7-30-22
for Longview/ Gregg county. Please remember vegetation is very dry. Any bolt lightening from storms can spark wildfires. Report smoke &flames early to 911. Even if it’s raining.
A few storms may become strong to severe this afternoon into the evening north of the I-20 corridor. The primary threat will be damaging winds.
