I know I’ve been radio silent lately but I’m still over here slowly taking in animals and trying to work on my vet bill and restocking supplies. I need to buy some human umbilical catheters. These are used to tube feed my tiniest patients; pinkie opossums. I use them literally until they fall apart. A minimum order is 4 catheters which cost me $70. If you would like to donate to help me pay for catheters it would be SOOO appreciated!! Links attached ….

Let’s talk about chickens and predators.
Most of you should know my stance, which is everything has a place and deserves respect. People have a way of finding problems with everything, even other people if they don’t do things a certain way. Wildlife was here before us. They may dig holes , get into things, make a mess, kill things, but ultimately they are following their instincts and just trying to survive…. As we all are.
Recently a raccoon killed all of my chickens. I am not upset at the raccoon. I am NOT going to try to eradicate all raccoons on my property. I am doing what I constantly tell other people…. BUILD A BETTER COOP. I am finding the chinks in the armor, and using my opposable thumbs to make it predator proof.
My chickens are dead because I did a crap job. Plain and simple.
If you have chickens thoroughly inspect your coop. Make sure things are in place to keep animals from digging under, entering from above, or squeezing through too big holes. Also chicken wire is NOT predator proof. Chicken wire just keeps chickens in. It does not keep predators out. Also make sure there are no holes around the bottom 3 feet that are large enough a bird can stick its head out.
Here’s to starting over and doing a better job. 🍻

I’ve been debating posting this but I think
It’s for the best at this time.
I’ve had a number of major life changes in the past few months. I slowed down my intake of animals because of it.
I still have a large vet bill outstanding, most of it from last year. I think it’s over 5k. With everything going on I haven’t had the time to organize a fundraiser to pay it down. What monetary donations I’ve gotten have all gone to it. I’ve been only using my vet recently as a very last resort because I feel bad owing them so much. They are so good to me I couldn’t do it without them.
Because of these things I’m going to put a PAUSE on intake for any new PAWS until life levels out and I can try to handle this vet bill. If anyone would like to help I’ll post my linktree which has ways you can donate. You can also donate directly to my vet ( Spencer Vet Services in Gilmer TX ) by phone ( phone lines are crazy sometimes and they close for lunch) or you can send a check or money order by snail mail to their posted address. Just put “For Rosie the Rehabber” in the memo line. We are a 501c3 and all donations are tax deductible.
Thank you all for helping me do what I do.
