๐๐ป Halloween Parties & Safety: Conversations That Matter! ๐
Halloween is a time for fun, friendships, and growing independence! Before your tween or teen heads out, take a moment to connect and talk about staying safe.
๐ Make a Plan: Talk about where they'll be, who they'll be with, and how they'll get home safely.
๐ Respect Boundaries: Remind young people that everyone deserves to feel comfortable, respected, and free to say no.
๐ป Navigate Peer Pressure: Discuss what they can do if a situation doesn't feel right or they're pressured to participate.
๐ฌ Talk About Substances: Have age-appropriate conversations about alcohol, va**ng, and getting help if someone is unsafe.
๐ฑ Protect Privacy: Encourage thoughtful choices about sharing photos, videos, and personal information.
๐ Create a Safety Plan: Agree on a code word or text they can use if they need support or a ride home.
๐งก Lead With Connection: Remind them, "You can always reach out to me. Your safety and well-being come first."
At the Children's Justice & Advocacy Center, we believe open conversations and trusted connections help young people feel safe, supported, and empowered.
๐ Safety starts with connection, not fear.
