The fog on Tuesday did not let up and proved to be quite challenging, the day ended with 4 off island transports on the Sherrif's boat, a new record. Thanks to the EMS crews who managed those incidents, three of which overlapped resulting in back-to-back-to-back transports. And a special shoutout to the two deputies who piloted those trips.

Due to editing for space, there was some language change on the recent levy mailer that was inadvertently removed. This removal was a key component of the "What Will This Cost Me?" portion, to determine your yearly impact and the change made the monthly cost calculation definition vague.

The mailer version reads:

The new levy rate comes to approximately $6.17 per $100,000 of assessed value. To calculate the impact on you, take your property's assessed value and divide it by 100,000 then multiply by 6.17.

The original version and the version on our website reads:

The new levy rate comes to approximately $6.17 per $100,000 of assessed value. To calculate the monthly impact on you, take your property's assessed value and divide it by 100,000 then multiply by 6.17. To see the yearly impact, multiply the monthly amount by 12.

I'm happy to announce that your Lopez Island Firefighters have earned the Washington Survey and Ratings Bureau (WSRB) Tender Credit rating. WSRB is the agency that sets insurance ratings statewide. The tender credit rating should be available in the new year, and if your insurance carrier acknowledges that benefit, it could lower your homeowner's insurance costs. If you would like more information on what goes into this process, feel free to reach out.

Great Job Lopez Island Fire and EMS Firefighters!
