Trunk or Treat at City Hall

Costumes on and candy buckets out! We set up the Zombie Candy Shop at City Hall today, and a long line of trunk-or-treaters kept us busy.

We spotted Spider-Man, Dorothy, a whole crew of M&Ms, and a few scary movie favorites who were a lot friendlier than they look.

Thanks to everyone who came out, dressed up, and decorated a trunk. Trick-or-treat is right around the corner, so slow down and watch for little ghosts and goblins crossing the street! πŸ‘»

Cops & Kids: Holiday Applications Are Open

Every holiday season, our officers team up with Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #3 to take Lorain kids shopping for gifts. Each child shops at the store alongside an officer and picks out gifts for the holidays.

If your family could use a little extra help this year, we'd love to have your kids join us.

Who can apply:
- Kids ages 5 to 17
- Must live in the City of Lorain

Get an application:
- Download and print it from our website (link below)
- Or pick one up in the Lorain Police Department lobby

Applications are paper only and must be filled out completely, including a working phone number so we can reach you if your family is selected. Families who haven't taken part before may be given preference.

Turn it in by Monday, November 9.

Homecoming Safety

Homecoming is almost here, and we want every Titan to have a great night and make it home safe.

Our officers were at Lorain High School this week talking with students about impaired driving, whether it's alcohol or ma*****na, and how one bad decision behind the wheel can change everything. Students even got to try on impairment goggles to see for themselves.

If you need a ride, call your parents. Getting yelled at by them is a lot better than our officers having to knock on their door.

Thank you to Lorain High School for having us. Have a safe and fun Homecoming, Titans!

Golf Cart Inspections: What to Have Ready

Planning to drive your golf cart on Lorain streets? Before our officer comes out, take a few minutes to check your cart and pull your paperwork together. It makes the inspection quick and saves you a second trip.

Have these on hand:

- $50, cash or check payable to the City of Lorain
- The title, in the owner's name
- A VIN that matches the title and is easy to read
- Proof of liability insurance

Check that your cart has working headlights, a taillight, brake light, turn signals, a lit rear license plate, horn, rearview mirror, windshield and wiper, speedometer, brakes, an emergency brake and a seat belt for every rider.

If the cart doesn't pass, a re-inspection is another $50, so it's worth a once-over first.

The owner listed on the title can schedule by calling:

- (440) 204-2311
