We always enjoy spending time at schools teaching kids about fire safety

We are honored that our department has been awarded grant funding from the Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office. This investment will go directly toward enhancing our equipment, training, and safety initiatives—helping us better protect the lives and property of the community we proudly serve.

First Responder’s Wing Cookoff – Loretto Lions Club

This week, several members of the Loretto Fire Department had the invaluable opportunity to participate in specialized mental health training. This initiative underscores the growing recognition of the unique stressors faced by first responders and the importance of equipping them with the tools to navigate these challenges.
The training was facilitated by the Tennessee Public Safety Network, an organization dedicated to addressing the increasing rates of stress and trauma among law enforcement and public safety personnel. The Network's core belief is that unaddressed stress can significantly compromise the physical and emotional well-being of these individuals, impacting their ability to serve their communities effectively.
The mental health training provided to the Loretto Fire Department members covered a range of topics, including stress management techniques, recognizing signs of burnout, and strategies for building resilience. Participants also learned about available resources and support systems, ensuring they have access to ongoing assistance when needed. By investing in the mental health of its first responders, the Loretto Fire Department is demonstrating a commitment to their overall well-being and ensuring they are prepared to handle the demands of their critical roles.

LCEMS RESPONDERS COMPLETE CISD/PEER SUPPORT TRAINING

This week, two LCEMS responders completed Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and Peer Support Training through the Tennessee Public Safety Network at Camp Garner Creek in Dickson, TN.

This vital four day training equips first responders with the knowledge to help peers process the emotional and mental toll of critical incidents. For too long, the mental health of emergency personnel has been overlooked. The days of “suck it up and go on” must come to an end. As a profession, we must truly care for those we count on to care for our communities in their time of need!!

With this training, these individuals are now prepared to provide structured critical incident debriefings and one on one peer support—offering understanding, encouragement, and healing from someone who understands the weight of the job. Because first responders truly understand what other first responders deal with.

We’re proud of all those who participated in this week’s course from across the state and are honored to be part of the Tennessee Public Safety Network, that believes in taking care of our own.
