Hello! My name is Jessi Gibbs, and I am thrilled to be joining South Lawrence School! I recently got married to my husband, Garrett Gibbs, and we live in Loretto. I have previously taught at Ingram Sowell Elementary the past 2 years. This opportunity is especially meaningful to me because South Lawrence has always felt like home. I attended school here as a student, and completed some of my student teaching here as well. It is such a blessing to return to the place that helped shape who I am today.

Mr. Clark joins South Lawrence with over 25 years of experience in education. Throughout his career, he has taught elementary, middle, and high school mathematics and is passionate about helping students build confidence through engaging, student-centered learning experiences. Outside the classroom, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and exploring new places. Mr. Clark is excited to become part of the South Lawrence community and looks forward to a great school year!

Jamie Beckman Named Dean of Students at South Lawrence School.

Lawrence County Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Jamie Beckman as the new Dean of Students at South Lawrence School. A dedicated educator with more than 25 years of experience, Beckman brings a strong commitment to student success, meaningful relationships, and serving the South Lawrence community she proudly calls home.

Beckman shared the following about her new role:

“I am honored and excited to begin serving as Dean of Students at South Lawrence School, a place that has been an important part of my life for many years. As both a former South Lawrence student and the parent of two South Lawrence graduates, this school has always felt like family to me.

My teaching career began at Ingram Sowell Elementary School, where I taught in Resource and UDL classrooms. I later returned to South Lawrence, where I have spent the past 25 years serving students and families. Most of that time was spent teaching third and fourth grades before transitioning into the role of interventionist in recent years. Serving as an interventionist has allowed me to work with students across grades K–8 while partnering with teachers and families to support academic growth and student success.

I earned a Bachelor of Science in Education and an Education Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision from Middle Tennessee State University, as well as a master's degree from Cumberland University.

My husband, Matt, and I live in West Point and have been married for 29 years. We have two adult children, Lane and Mattie Ray, who are both recently married, and we are learning to navigate this new season of life as empty nesters.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading a good book on the back porch, and traveling whenever I have the opportunity.

I am grateful for the opportunity to serve in this new role at a school I love. I look forward to building new relationships, strengthening existing ones, and supporting students as they achieve academic success while preparing them for life beyond the classroom.”

LCSS Open Enrollment is June 9 & July 8.

Families wishing to request enrollment in a school outside of their assigned attendance zone should visit that school on these dates.

Please note that Lawrenceburg Public School, Ethridge Elementary School, and Summertown Elementary School are closed to students residing outside of those school zones.

Additionally, some schools may have specific grade levels that are closed to out-of-zone enrollment due to capacity. Families should contact the school directly to inquire about the availability of individual grade levels.

We would like to welcome Mrs. Susan Riedel to our SLS Family!

After retiring from Florence City Schools with 35 years experience, I am excited to join South Lawrence School as a Resource teacher! I graduated from Vanderbilt with a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education and hold a Master’s degree and Education Specialist degree from UNA.
I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 37 years. We have three adult children (2 married, 1 newly engaged) and one granddaughter who is pure joy! Outside of school my time is typically spent with family, but I do enjoy a good book, the beach and baking.
I am thrilled to be part of the SLS family and look forward to a year of learning, growth and new friendships.

We would like to welcome Mr. Daniel Smith to our SLS Family!

Hey everyone! My name is Daniel Smith, and I’m excited to be joining the Math Department at South Lawrence School. I graduated from Loretto High School in 2019 and earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education from University of Tennessee Southern in 2025.

Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work in the school system at South Lawrence School, E.O. Coffman Middle School, and Loretto High School as an Educational Assistant. Teaching has always been a passion of mine, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to give back to the community by educating students in the same place where I once attended school. Outside of school, I enjoy football, sports, music, and spending time with family and friends.
