🚒 LAFD & LAMC: Training Together to Provide the Best Care
This week, LAFD crews are collaborating with Los Alamos Medical Center (LAMC) on hands-on training focused on obstetric emergencies and the care of pregnant patients.

During the scenario, crews respond to a labor emergency and work closely with the LAMC Emergency Department team to navigate the challenges that can arise during a high-acuity obstetric call. Crews also incorporate consultation with an emergency physician as they assess, treat, and make critical decisions throughout the scenario.

Our Medical Director, Dr. Chris Hammond, was also present to work directly with LAFD crews, providing guidance on appropriate prehospital obstetric care and sharing his expertise throughout the training.

The exercise continues with transport to the LAMC Emergency Department, where LAFD crews and hospital staff work together to practice a smooth transition of care and ensure the patient receives appropriate treatment upon arrival.

These joint exercises are an important part of maintaining strong communication, teamwork, and clinical readiness between our prehospital and hospital partners.

We are proud to be part of this collaborative training and grateful for our partnership with Los Alamos Medical Center. Together, we continue to strengthen our ability to provide the highest level of care to our community when it matters most. ❤️‍🩹🚑

Last night at the County Council meeting in White Rock, we had the honor of presenting the Phoenix Award to LAFD and Emergency Communications personnel whose lifesaving response helped a community member survive cardiac arrest and return home to his family.

The Phoenix award recognizes emergency responders whose coordinated efforts help to resuscitate a person in cardiac arrest who is later discharged from the hospital with little to no neurological impairment. It's a remarkable outcome made possible by quick action and teamwork at every step.

Congratulations to Captain Keith Henry; Driver Engineer Paramedics Keith Garcia and Michael Crockett; Firefighter Paramedic Cory Miller; Firefighters David Baca, Carlos Duran, Jesse Griego and Austin Torrey; and Emergency Communications Specialists Stephanie Conrad and DeeAnn Cruz.

We also thank the Los Alamos National Laboratory staff who began lifesaving care before crews arrived, and everyone who played a part in this outcome. Los Alamos County Police Department
