Our Egan 8th graders have been busy hiking, exploring, and learning in Yosemite this week! From chilly mornings and rainy weather to sunshine and challenging hikes like Nevada Falls, students have made the most of their time outdoors. Thank you to our teachers, staff, and chaperones for making this trip possible!

A wonderful celebration of culture and learning at Egan Junior High!🥮💚

Our 8th grade Mandarin students explored the traditions of the Mid-Autumn Festival through creative projects and hands-on mooncake making.

We love seeing our students experience meaningful learning opportunities that celebrate cultural traditions, build connections, and broaden their understanding of the world! 🌏

Meet Kelly Rafferty, whose LASD story has come full circle! From a student at Santa Rita Elementary and Egan Junior High to the proud principal of Loyola Elementary.🙌🏼

Kelly credits her LASD experience with shaping her belief that every student deserves to be seen, supported, challenged, and encouraged to discover what they’re capable of achieving. It’s a philosophy she continues to bring to her work as an educator and school leader. 📚✨

We’re excited to share Kelly’s story as part of our LASD Alumni Spotlight and celebrate the lasting impact of our schools across generations.

History came to life for our Springer third graders! 🌿💚

During their annual field trip to Ohlone Village, students stepped outside the classroom to explore California history and learn about the traditions and daily lives of the Ohlone people.

From exploring a traditional Ohlone dwelling, known as a wickiup, to learning about hunting, gathering, preparing acorns for food, and caring for the land, students experienced history in a hands-on way.

Their favorite parts? Hiking among the trees, learning about Ohlone culture, and trying their hand at crushing acorns! 🌳✨

A wonderful example of Deeper Learning beyond the classroom!

A big thank you to the 125 volunteers who came together Sunday through LASD and Compassion Week to make a difference!🙌🏼🤍

More than 30 Egan students joined the PTA community service event supporting Rise Against Hunger, helping package an incredible 15,000 meals for communities in need. We’re so proud of our students and grateful to everyone who gave their time!
