Stop Domestic Violence, Build Self Reliance, Save Lives

#FocusOnDV #DVAwareness #StopDV

Since 1977 Haven Hills has provided safety and support to victims of domestic violence. We offer shelter, crisis intervention, counseling, advocacy, and activities supporting increased economic opportunity. Each year we help over 3,000 women and men find the strength within themselves to break the cycle of abuse and to build a new, productive and positive life for themselves and their children.

Nobody talks about what happens inside a survivor's body long after the abuse ends.

Almost 2 in 3 people who experience domestic violence develop PTSD. Not because something is wrong with them. Because their brain did exactly what it was designed to do: survive.

We are naming it, explaining it, and reminding every survivor that healing is not out of reach.
If you or someone you love is carrying this, we are here. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 818-887-6589. 💜

Rebuilding a life after domestic violence takes more than courage. It takes a team.

At Haven Hills, we are with survivors from the moment they arrive in crisis to the day they walk into a home of their own. Shelter, therapy, legal advocacy, housing support, and so much more. We do not just help people survive. We help them rebuild.

That work is only possible because of donors who believe every survivor deserves a real shot at a new life.

If that is you, donate today. Link in bio. 💜

When my son and I fled domestic violence, we left everything behind in search of safety. We arrived in California with fear, uncertainty, and nowhere to call home, at times living in our car, just trying to survive each day.

For years, I had normalized the abuse I was experiencing. It wasn't until I began seeking help that I finally saw the truth of what I had been living through. I felt exposed, raw, and overwhelmed. Still, I kept moving forward, holding on for my son, even on the days when I felt completely empty.

Through Haven Hills, I started to realize I didn't have to carry it all alone. With the support of my case manager, counseling, and domestic violence education, I slowly started to feel safe. Safe enough to begin healing.

Step by step, I rebuilt my confidence, found my voice, and started to believe in a future beyond just surviving. Today I am pursuing education to become a peer support specialist and counselor because I want to walk alongside others on their healing journeys.

Haven Hills changed my life. I found safety, healing, and hope. Now, I want to be that hope for someone else. 💚

Most people assume abuse is caused by mental illness. It is not.

Abuse is a choice made to maintain power and control over a partner. And one of the most strategic parts of that choice is making sure no one else ever sees it.
If you have ever felt like no one would believe you — that feeling was put there on purpose. It was not the truth.

Swipe through to understand the real connection between mental health and domestic violence. It could change how you see your own situation or someone you love.

You always deserve a relationship that feels safe. 100% of the time. 💚

If someone you love has gone quiet, do not wait for them to reach out first.

The signs are not always obvious. Sometimes it is a canceled plan. A short reply. A name they stopped mentioning. Trust what you notice.

Checking in costs nothing. But to someone who is struggling in silence, it can mean everything.

If you or someone you know needs support, Haven Hills is here. Free. Confidential. 24/7.
