Going to be a LADWP bill for Halloween. 👻

These bills are very expensive. I received your petition and have requested information from LADWP to understand more about the rates they charge and why. I've also asked what the mechanisms are to make these bills more affordable and how to get more assistance for Angelenos struggling to pay.

In the meantime, please use LADWP's Bill Payment Options like Level Pay and also see if you qualify for their Assistance Programs.

If the Mayor & most of City Council DO NOT want to fight for transparency and accountability on LA28's finances, WE WILL.

REMINDER: YOU ALL (LA taxpayers) are financially liable for UNLIMITED amounts if the LA Olympics goes over budget.

Never before in this City’s history has a private organization been financially backstopped by the City of Los Angeles taxpayers to carry out an endeavor of this size and scale.

Our data request for financial information from LA28 is due today. This is information that LA28 agreed to provide per our 2021 agreement with them. Stay tuned.

Thank you to the few Councilmembers who fought for greater oversight and audit powers over LA28's finances (Councilmembers Eunisses Hernandez, Nithya Raman, Hugo Soto-Martinez, Ysabel Jurado, and Heather Hutt). Unfortunately, they didn't have enough votes at the time.

$456 MILLION in Liability Payouts since FY2020 for LAPD.

The LAPD’s response to people experiencing mental health crises continues to cost us in lives and liabilities.

This week, a jury awarded $11 million to the family of Wilver Blanco, a man killed by LAPD during a mental health episode.

The Mayor issued Executive Directive 21, calling for an outside review of LAPD’s policy, training, and practices relating to people experiencing mental and behavioral health crises.

Our Office has conducted an assessment of the LAPD’s Mental Evaluation Unit (MEU) to evaluate the effectiveness of LAPD’s response to mental health-related calls. We found that LAPD does little to prevent unnecessary incarceration, hospitalization, or violence.

City Hall DOES NOT take fraud, waste, and abuse seriously.

In May 2024, the Mayor and City Council (with the exception of Councilmembers Hernandez, Raman, and Soto-Martinez) CUT the Controller's audit and fraud, waste, and abuse investigation budget and since then hasn't been restored.

Despite pleas of only having FIVE fraud, waste, and abuse investigators and receiving 800 fraud, waste, and abuse claims each year, we are not surprised of fraud, waste, and abuse continuing to go unchecked.

FYI, we got more FWA investigations rolling out, stay tuned. 🔎🫠

My Office has PLEADED with the Mayor & City Council for more auditors & fraud, waste, & abuse investigators.

Instead, our audit and fraud, waste, & abuse budget was cut in FY2025 by the Mayor & City Council w/ the exception of CD 1, 4, & 13.

We're in a lack of oversight CRISIS.
