BHBCUC California The predecessor of the present organization in the USA was established as a community organization in 1990s.
Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, USA, a not-for-profit was established in its current form as tax-exempt organization in New York in the year of 2014. The original organization 1990 Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council was established in 1988 in reaction to the adoption of 8th Amendment to Constitution of Bangladesh that relegated the religious (Hindu Buddhist Christ
ian communities) to the 3rd class citizenship by including Islam as State Religion. This organization (Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, USA) received the Special Consultative Status in the Economic & Social Council of the United Nations in May 2021. This status, a long-sought-after recognition has enabled us to make official report/complaints to this world body and also to rebut/challenge to any false narrative that the current or any future government(s) may try to spread for international consumption. This organization is a human rights advocacy group that tries to protect the rights of religious and ethnic minorities of Bangladesh, a state that deceived these groups by falsely promising to form and keep the secular structure of the State Bangladesh. All previous governments have betrayed, including the current government, these religious and ethnic communities by going back to their words. In consequence of that we are seeing atrocities in 2012 in Ramu against Buddhist community, and hundreds of atrocities against Hindu community including the very recent one that happened yesterday. We condemn all the atrocities and demand the government take real and sincere action against the perpetrators. At the same time we promise that we’ll do our best to bring this to attention of international community and ask for holding the perpetrators and the government of Bangladesh and its political leadership liable for it under international law. We want our community to get organized and protest these atrocities.
