The Kenya Consulate in Los Angeles welcomed renowned Mugithi artists KarehB and Jose Gatutura for a courtesy visit during their ongoing United States tour.
At the Consulate, we recognize the creative economy as a powerful pillar of cultural diplomacy. Music has a unique ability to transcend borders, connect communities, and strengthen the bond between Kenyans abroad and the rich heritage that defines us.
Artists play an important role in showcasing Kenya’s vibrant culture on the global stage. Beyond entertainment, they serve as cultural ambassadors, bringing the sounds, stories, and spirit of Kenya to audiences across the globe.
Our discussion highlighted the important role of the arts in fostering community engagement, strengthening cultural identity, and promoting Kenya’s image abroad. We commend their dedication to sharing authentic Kenyan culture with the diaspora and beyond, while reinforcing a sense of unity, pride, and belonging.
As they continue their U.S. tour, we wish KarehB and Jose Gatutura continued success in representing the soul of Kenya and inspiring pride in our shared heritage wherever they perform.

After 30 years of devastating conflict that has displaced millions and claimed countless lives, there is finally hope for lasting peace in Eastern DRC.
At the Donald J. Trump United States Institute of Peace in Washington, D.C., President Félix Tshisekedi of the DRC and President Paul Kagame of Rwanda signed the Washington Accord—a historic peace agreement that opens a new chapter for the Great Lakes region.
Kenya was honored to witness this transformative moment and remains committed to supporting its implementation. As a regional leader and peace broker, Kenya recognizes that stability in Eastern DRC means prosperity for the entire Horn of Africa and Great Lakes region.
We commend President Trump for his decisive leadership in facilitating this agreement, and acknowledge the vital contributions of the East African Community, SADC, and all mediators who worked tirelessly toward this outcome.
Now comes the critical work of implementation. We call on all parties to honor their commitments so that displaced families can return home, children can return to school, and the people of Eastern DRC can finally rebuild with dignity and hope.
Peace in our region is not just possible—it is within reach.

The signing of the Kenya-US Health Cooperation Framework represents a transformative milestone in bilateral health cooperation, positioning Kenya as the first nation to formalize such a comprehensive health partnership with the United States under President Donald J. Trump's administration.
This landmark framework commits $1.6 billion over five years, channeled directly through government institutions to ensure maximum impact, transparency, and accountability. The agreement prioritizes critical areas including modernization of medical equipment in healthcare facilities, efficient delivery of essential health commodities, expansion of the health workforce, and comprehensive health insurance coverage to advance Kenya's universal health coverage objectives.
The United States' selection of Kenya as the inaugural partner for this framework reflects recognition of the nation's reform momentum, system sustainability, and commitment to delivering quality healthcare for all citizens. This enhanced partnership creates pathways for transformative health sector development that will benefit generations of Kenyans while serving as a model for comprehensive bilateral health cooperation.
The protracted conflict in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, which has claimed innumerable lives, displaced countless families, and robbed an entire generation of children of their innocence and education while disrupting vital cross-border trade and regional prosperity, represents a profound injustice that has endured far beyond what humanity can reasonably bear. At the Donald J. Trump United States Institute of Peace in Washington, D.C., President William Ruto witnessed the historic signing of the Washington Accord between President Félix Tshisekedi of the DRC and President Paul Kagame of Rwanda-a landmark peace deal that represents the most credible pathway to ending three decades of conflict and inaugurating a new chapter of friendship, cooperation, and mutual progress in the region.
Kenya extends sincere gratitude to President Donald J. Trump for his decisive leadership, honors the invaluable contributions of the East African Community, the Southern African Development Community, and all mediators whose tireless efforts made this historic moment possible, and calls upon all parties to faithfully implement the Accord's terms so that the people of Eastern DRC may return home, rebuild their lives, and reclaim the peace, dignity, and hope that have long been denied to them.
