Expanding pathways to healthcare careers and economic opportunity 💙
DEO Chief Deputy Jessica Ku Kim joined community leaders, workforce partners, and Goodwill Southern California to celebrate the grand opening of the CVS Health Career Skills Lab in Los Angeles.
The new Career Skills Lab will help expand access to workforce training, career readiness resources, and employment opportunities in healthcare and retail—creating pathways to quality jobs for Los Angeles County residents.

Building sustainable workforce pathways through partnership 🤝
This week, DEO’s Workforce Development team joined partners from across Los Angeles County for the final High Road Training Partnership (HRTP) Community of Practice convening.
During the event, DEO Assistant Director of Workforce Development Kate Vacanti and the HRTP team presented on HRTP sustainability, highlighting how HRTP programs can continue creating opportunities for workers by strengthening connections with DEO and LA County America’s Job Centers of California (AJCCs).
Thank you to our HRTP partners for their collaboration, innovation, and commitment to building equitable career pathways that support workers, employers, and communities across LA County.

Celebrating new pathways into behavioral health careers 🎓💙
DEO joined Redefine Alliance (REDF), employment social enterprises Chrysalis, LGBT Center, and Center for Living and Learning, and 56 graduates to celebrate the completion of the Bridge to Behavioral Health Careers (B2BH) High Road Training Partnership.
Through DEO's HRTP initiative, B2BH helps participants prepare for careers in behavioral health through a pathway that combines transitional employment, training and certification, and connections to quality jobs.
Congratulations to all the graduates on this important milestone and to the partners working together to strengthen LA County's behavioral health workforce.

Apply Now: Help Water 1,100 Trees Across LA County 🌳💧
DEO is now accepting proposals for tree watering services as part of LA County's Community Forestry Management Plan, helping ensure the successful establishment and long-term health of 1,100 newly planted street trees in unincorporated communities.
Up to $3.3 million in funding is available for qualified organizations with experience in tree watering, landscape maintenance, and urban forestry services.
Eligible organizations should have:
✔ 3+ years of comparable tree watering experience
✔ A valid California C-27 Landscape Contractor License
✔ Experience with urban forestry or landscape maintenance projects
✔ Capacity to service multiple locations across LA County

🎓 Congratulations to the 12 graduates of Cohort #1 (https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/1/) from the Rio Hondo College High Road Training Partnership (HRTP) in Aerospace, Defense, and Advanced Manufacturing!
On May 27, DEO joined Rio Hondo College to celebrate graduates who earned credentials in Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Robotics, Automation, and Mechatronics through this no-cost, employer-validated training program.
DEO Director Kelly LoBianco and Andy Perez, Labor & Economic Development Deputy for LA County Supervisor Janice Hahn, shared remarks recognizing the graduates’ achievements and commitment to building careers in aerospace and advanced manufacturing.
Led by Rio Hondo College in partnership with the Rio Hondo America’s Job Center of California and LISI Aerospace, this DEO-funded HRTP is helping connect workers to quality careers in high-growth industries.
