While our time in office may be coming to an end, the impact of our work will continue to benefit CD14 for years to come. In Boyle Heights, we’ve secured repairs for over 1,000 streetlights, added 25 brand-new lights at Hollenbeck Park, and there’s still more to look forward to from —like brand-new sidewalks on Cesar Chavez, the comprehensive renovation of Hollenbeck Lake, and over 400 new pedestrian lights. With the $300 million+ in grant funding, the brighter, safer future we’ve worked hard to build is just getting started.

In solidarity with World AIDS Day, my office proudly lit up City Hall in red last night. ✊🏽 Every year, this day reminds us of the importance of awareness, prevention, and treatment. Together, we can fight stigma, spread knowledge, and move toward an AIDS-free future. 💪

Today is World AIDS Day. ✊🏽Ending AIDS requires addressing the inequalities that prevent progress. Here in CD-14, we’re gathering at The Wall Las Memorias to reflect, honor lives lost, and support those impacted by HIV/AIDS.
Join us at Noche de las Memorias today at 2 PM. The event will feature live music, free health resources, a special performance by David Archuleta, and a powerful tribute at the AIDS Monument.

Happy Thanksgiving CD-14! 🤎🙌🏽Serving the people of Council District 14 has been the honor of my lifetime. These past four years have been about more than service — they’ve been about love, care, and commitment to the families of Council District 14. I am grateful that my office was able to provide fresh food to more than 80,000 households that needed it most, proving that when we come together, we can make a real difference. This final turkey and toy giveaway is a celebration of community, but it’s also a testament to the power of compassion and kindness. Happy holidays to you and your loved ones —may they be filled with joy, peace, and hope.

It’s almost Thanksgiving, and I’m feeling so thankful for all the amazing people in our community! 🍂🦃 On Monday, I had the honor of partnering with Barrio Action Youth & Family Source Center and LA Trade Tech College to host an early Thanksgiving meal for 500 of our families and friends in El Sereno. It was an incredible day of giving, and we even got to surprise some of our kiddos with early holiday gifts! 🎁 I’m thankful to be in a position where I can help make moments like this happen for the amazing people of CD14. You all deserve it!

I’m incredibly grateful to have been part of making (NEW) Hogar Propio project a reality in El Sereno. This initiative will provide 31 units of affordable housing for survivors of domestic and sexual violence who have experienced homelessness.
Over the weekend, I was honored to join Leticia, Bea, Jacqueline, Jennie, , , and my incredible staff at a special event to celebrate all the partners who made this project possible. It’s a true example of what can happen when we come together with a shared commitment to lifting up our community.
I’m excited to see this vision come to life and the difference it will make for so many vulnerable families.
As the holiday season approaches, I want to directly address a divisive and baseless misrepresentation of facts regarding this year’s Christmas tree lightings in our district. Due to the conclusion of my term in early December, the City Clerk required all contracts associated with my office to terminate on November 30th. This unfortunately left us unable to process payments to vendors for tree lighting installations, as city policy does not maintain standing contracts for such events. That said, I’m pleased to share that, thanks to the collaboration with the Department of Recreation and Parks, we will still host a Christmas tree lighting in Downtown Los Angeles. Moreover, we will continue our tradition of distributing thousands of toys and turkeys for families in need before Thanksgiving. I wish everyone a safe and joyful holiday season.

I had the honor of hosting a luncheon for some of our incredible community leaders from across our district today. I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to represent our vibrant, diverse neighborhoods in CD14—Boyle Heights, El Sereno, Eagle Rock, Lincoln Heights, Hermon, Downtown LA, Highland Park, University Hills and beyond. From community events to one-on-ones, I’ve cherished every moment spent together. I’ve loved hearing your stories, learning about our district’s journey, and listening to your hopes for the future. Keep working together to ensure your voices are heard and that our community remains strong.
