I came across a parking lot a couple of weeks ago in Griffith Park that had so much trash, but there were 3 dumpsters in the parking lot! I suggested to the Public Health & Safety Committee that we clean it up. Look at the difference we made. It feels good to make our parks cleaner. Thanks for coming out .eco and everyone else! I hope to see you at our next cleanup and I hope to see more board and committee members come out too! Enjoy the park! @ Griffith Park

Happy Earth Day! I grow a lot of plants and like to marvel at how nature has engineered these miracles, like how this succulent has grown its leaves in such a way to allow the water droplets to pearl on its leaves rather than drip off.

This day is a reminder that we are just visitors on this land, and that, like any good guest, we should show gratitude and respect to our hostess.

It’s a day to begin to recall the we are the earth and the earth is us.

We can start working towards this more blessed life by removing our worship of cars and oil, and replacing it with worship of the land. By building sustainable communities that feed us with community gardens, play in streets that once prioritized 4 wheels and now can support our feet and bikes, and build homes on land that was once parking lots and oil fields.

Happy Earth Day! 🌏 🌎 🌍

Growing your own food is so rewarding. Here is a before and after of my little plot in our shared backyard for summer planting.

Someone asked me, what’s the differences between a regular bike lane and a protected bike lane? Here’s a great image from shown during one of their webinars on bike safety. These are different types of bike lanes. The first one would be like the LA River, lanes only for bikes in a place completely separated from traffic. The second is a lane that still is next to moving traffic but creates a separate lane for bikes. Cyclists would also be exposed to opening car doors which has resulted in injuries to cyclists. The third one is a lane shared with cars. The fourth one is a protected bike lane, there is physical protection in the form of cement pillars and parking is on the left, this provides protection from moving traffic and car doors.

I am *unofficially* your new District C Neighborhood Council Representative! It was a tough election this year because many people didn’t even know about it and the process to get a ballot was cumbersome. So I very much appreciate people who went out of their way to vote for me. Thank you! I will work hard to make Los Feliz a greener and safer place for us all! I am meeting with CD4 reps on transportation issues tomorrow with the to advocate for safer streets.

Congrats also to my slatemate ! It’s bittersweet as my slatemate did not win. Jacob has a track record of working hard for Los Feliz, drafting letters on issues before City Council and bringing to light matters of concern to our community. He is an invaluable member of the community and I support his effort to add a seat to District B in proportion with its population.

Congrats to all the winners! I look forward to working with you all to make Los Feliz better, together.

Saturday I spoke at a rally commemorating the life of Woon who was struck and killed riding his bike on Manchester in South LA. His child will grow up not knowing him. Thank you for organizing. For too long LA has prioritized vehicles, prioritized smog, and making people choose between housing and car and insurance payments. The majority of the land in LA is devoted to vehicles. Our climate crisis, housing crisis, and public health crisis are all linked. Other cities have taken this time to add bike lanes and bus lanes to their communities. Cities like Chicago. We have seen nothing from our city leaders to make this city safer for pedestrians and cyclists. The time is now. We are waiting and watching. @ Los Feliz
