The Chamber mourns the sudden passing of an Indian Country giant, Ernie Stevens, Jr. We send our condolences to his wife Cher, his children and 20 grandchildren Along with then Indian Gaming Association Board Secretary and current San Manuel Tribal Chairwoman Lynn Valbuena, the Chamber signed a historic MOU with the Indian Gaming Association that outlined a partnership for a "Buy Native" initiative. Additionally, Ernie was a stellar supporter of the Chamber attending a number of events and frequently dropping by our outreach booths. In 2021, Ernie presented Chamber president Tracy Stanhoff with his Chairman's Leadership award. "We have lost a good soul, and tireless advocate for our people," said Chamber president Tracy Stanhoff, "he will long be remembered and celebrated."

We needed to take a moment of reflection upon the sudden passing of our dear friend Ernie Stevens Jr - but know he would want us to move forward on and share our mission to advocate for Buy Native during CA Native American Day festivities at the CA State Capitol.
