Community Zines & Art Lab, which usually takes place on the first Thursday of the month, will *not* meet on Thursday, June 4. Our meeting room will be in use this week for the primary election, but fear not, you can still make a zine!

A take-and-make zine kit will be available at the Silver Lake Branch Monday, June 1 - Saturday, June 6 while supplies last. June's theme is Summer 2026 Bucket List. Stop by the Reference Desk to pick one up and check out some books to help you plan your list while you're here. Come back for July's workshop on Thursday, July 2 at 4pm to share your work and make your next zine. ⚡

Our first zine workshop is tomorrow, Thursday, May 7 at 4pm! ✂

Join us to learn how to make a basic 8-page zine and a little bit about the cultural impact of zines throughout history. Not into zines? This time and space is open to work on other art projects and crafts too. You can bring your own or use the materials provided to try new mediums and explore your creativity in a judgment free, calm environment. If you can't make it tomorrow, then mark your calendar for the next one! Community Zines & Art Lab is a monthly event that will meet on the first Thursday of the month (unless announced otherwise). Teens and adults welcome. 🌟

Join us this Monday, April 27 at 10:30am in celebrating El Día de los Niños/El Día de los Libros (Children's Day/Book Day) with Imaginations Soar! by storyteller and author Antonio Sacre. Antonio's storytelling weaves Spanish and English in a lively collection of stories. He uses folktales and myths from his Cuban-American upbringing, as well as his many visits to Mexico, to encourage all listeners to find their own cultural stories through the magic of books and the magic of their own unique oral tradition and cultures.

This program is supported by The Library Foundation of Los Angeles.
