This Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we’re taking a moment to learn more about the Indigenous history of the San Fernando Valley and the communities connected to these lands.

From learning the original names of places we know today to supporting Indigenous-led work, there are meaningful ways we can recognize and honor the history and communities that continue to shape our region.

We encourage our community to learn directly from the Fernandeno Tataviam Band of Mission Indians and explore their history, culture, language, and ongoing work.

Let’s continue learning, listening, and supporting Indigenous communities beyond Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

For 27 years, Pacoima Beautiful has worked alongside community members to build a healthier, greener, and more connected Pacoima.

As we celebrate this milestone, we’re grateful for the people, partnerships, and memories that have been a part of our journey and continue to shape the work we do today.

Thank you to everyone who has been a part of the Pacoima Beautiful family over the years. Here’s to 27 years of community, connection, and looking ahead to the next chapter. 💚

Our Chicas Girasoles have been getting creative as they work on a collaborative art installation for our upcoming Día de los Mu***os celebration! 🌼

Inspired by this year’s exhibition theme, “Return Home,” participants are reflecting on migration, home, and the journeys of winged species as they bring their artwork to life.

They’re also giving everyday materials a second life by repurposing colorful cardboard snack boxes and chip bags collected from Pacoima Beautiful programs and their own homes. What might have been thrown away is becoming part of something meaningful while helping reduce waste through creative reuse.

We can’t wait to see their work come together! Save the date for November 2, 2026. More details coming soon!

And just like that, another year of Mercado Pacoima comes to a close! 🌱

As we wrap up this year, we’re taking a moment to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make Mercado Pacoima possible. Every month, you showed up, shared your time, picked up fresh produce and plants, and helped create a space where our community could come together.

We’re especially grateful to for their generous support throughout the year, and to Cuyama Farms for their donation that helped us make our final Mercado extra special.

To our incredible volunteers and every community member who stopped by, supported, and helped spread the word, thank you! Your generosity, time, and continued support mean so much to us and are a big part of what makes Mercado Pacoima special.

We’re so grateful to have shared another year with you, and we can’t wait to see you again next year! 💚

Our community members took some time to slow down, stretch, and reconnect during our latest Wellness Day! 🧘‍♀️

A special thank you to our yoga instructor, Hasibe Caballero-Gomez, for creating a welcoming space, answering questions, and offering adjustments to support each participant throughout the session.

Hear from some of our participants as they share what they enjoyed most about the experience!

Don’t miss our last Wellness Day of the year on October 19, 2026. Stay tuned for more updates!

Thank you to our incredible Pacoima Beautiful Community Inspectors who came out to help improve our community! Here’s a quick before and after from the corner of Dronfield and Pierce, near Fenton Elementary School, where we worked to improve pedestrian pathways and create a safer, more welcoming space for our community.

We recently took community members to South LA to explore Metro’s new Rail to Rail Active Transportation Project, a first-of-its-kind project funded through the Safe Clean Water Program.

The 5.5-mile path connects neighborhoods, parks, schools, and local business corridors along the way. Designed for everyone, the path welcomes bikes, scooters, skateboards, strollers, and wheelchairs, while keeping motor vehicles off the route. Benches, shaded areas, landscaping, and water fountains make the path a space for the community to enjoy.

Our community had a great time experiencing the project in person and learning more about what it can bring to the neighborhoods it connects. We hope to see more projects like this that create accessible, welcoming spaces for communities across Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley.
