We currently do not have an 'official' dog park that serves our neighborhood.

We look forward to hearing your feedback and seeing our neighbors tomorrow at our virtual listening session with CD11, Recs And Parks and the Stoner Park Advisory Board.

JULY 2026
STONER PARK

05/07/2026

The new walk path currently being built was designed to make Stoner Park more accessible to visitors with disabilities in 2022.

However, this well-intentioned design overlooked the existing use case for this part of Stoner: an unofficial gathering place for pet owners in the past twenty plus years.

The Neighborhood Council requested LA City turn the site into an "official" dog park in 2017. Our request was denied because the area is below the recommended size for an official dog park.

The Neighborhood Council currently is asking the city to place 2 unlocked gates to the north and south of the area to keep both pets and park visitors safe.

In addition, we are asking the city to review and reconsider the Neighborhood Council's previous request.

With the increasing density coming to our community, the community's demand for essential civic infrastructure, such as a dog park, will only continue to grow.

Stoner Park disruption!

The city and LA Department of Recreation and Parks needs to do a better job at communicating with our neighborhood about disruptions that will take place in our community!

This is very frustrating to all of us.

Updates:
LA Recs and Park had planned to create a pedestrian walkway along the westside of the park [in parallel to Westgate, from Sawtelle to Missouri] to make the park more accessible to folks with disability in 2022.

The 2022 plan is only now being implemented in 2026!
The construction team will close the entire area for up to one month to build the path.

In addition to constructing the path, the team will also install a sprinkler system in the area.

NOTE: The path's construction is independent of and unrelated to our conversation about possible gate installation in April.
We apologize for all the inconveniences.

We will share concrete dates, time and plan after we talk to Recs and Park.
