Breathe Southern California
Breathe SoCal promotes clean air and healthy lungs through education, advocacy, and technology.
Breathe Southern California has a long history of public health engagement aligned with its 100 year-old mission to improve air quality and lung health through education, research and advocacy. Formed in 1903 to address the epidemic of tuberculosis and other lung-related diseases, the organization’s education and outreach efforts have resulted in significant reductions in incidences of TB and more stringent smoking laws.

June is Men's Mental Health Awareness Month.
There are multitudes of reasons your mental health can be compromised. You are not alone!
Did you know there is a link between your physical health and mental health? 🫁 🧠
Check on your amigos, encourage them to seek professional help when they need it, and make those medical appointments. Your body and mind will thank you! 🧠🤝
Let’s make 2026 the year we stop putting off our health. 🗓️
Because real strength is taking care of your whole self. 🫶
Break the stigma… Let's normalize asking for help.

Breathe Southern California recently participated in the California Green Building Conference in Berkeley, connecting with professionals, organizations, and industry leaders committed to creating healthier and more sustainable communities.
Through conversations on environmental health, clean air, and community impact, we were able to share how Breathe SoCal partners with government agencies, private industry, and community organizations to advance healthier environments across California.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth. We look forward to continuing these important conversations and building partnerships that support healthier communities for all.

Wildfires and the smoke they create are a risk to our health and lives. As we’ve seen in the recent weeks as the winds picked up, with dryer heat, more and more fires spread.
It’s important to stay informed, prepared and have a plan in place for anytime you or your loved ones may be threatened.
At Breathe Southern California we take your lung health seriously. This summer as we aim to be outside more, let’s stay aware and vigilant when it comes to the unpredictable nature of fires.

If you have asthma and don’t have a written action plan, this is your sign to get one. 📋
An Asthma Action Plan is a personalized document (made with your doctor) that tells you exactly what to do based on how you’re feeling. It takes the guesswork out of a scary moment.
It’s divided into three zones:
🟢 Green Zone — Doing Well
No symptoms. Take your daily controller medicine as prescribed. Life is good.
🟡 Yellow Zone — Getting Worse
Symptoms like coughing, wheezing, or tightness are showing up. This is your warning. Use your rescue inhaler and follow your plan’s steps.
🔴Red Zone — Medical Alert
Severe symptoms that aren’t improving. This means get help immediately — call your doctor or 911.
Your action plan should also include:
📌 Your medications and doses
📌 Your known triggers
📌 Emergency contact numbers
Ask your doctor or asthma specialist to create one with you at your next visit. Share it with family members, coaches, teachers — anyone who needs to know.
Knowledge = control. 💙
Everyone deserves a clear plan for managing their asthma. Your donation helps us empower more people with the knowledge and tools they need to stay safe and in control.
Breathe Southern California was proud to join advocates, healthcare leaders, and organizations from across the state at California Healthy Lungs Advocacy Day in Sacramento. 💙
Together, we met with policymakers to advocate for cleaner air, healthier communities, expanded lung health resources, and improved access to early detection and screenings for underserved communities across California.
Because what happens at the Capitol impacts how Californians breathe.
Every breath deserves advocacy.
