Last but most definitely not least, please welcome our President for the 2020-2021 school year, Rohila Kusampudi!!! ✨
Rohila Kusampudi will be serving as the President of IGNITE at UCLA for the 2020-2021 school year! Rohila is a fourth-year student studying Psychobiology and hopes to pursue a career in the medical profession after graduation. Rohila started as a Membership Chair with Ignite in her freshman year and was immediately struck by the power of Ignite to bring like-minded, ambitious individuals together for an amazing cause. She found the national movement towards empowering womxn to run for office, increasing access to political platforms and processes, and striving towards greater inclusivity on all sides of the political spectrum to be a cause worth fighting for. Rohila hopes to work with her fellow board members to create real opportunity, awareness, and change at UCLA and beyond.

Please welcome our External Vice President for the 2020-2021 school year, Rocio Medina! ✨
I’m a fourth year, transfer student, majoring in Political Science, hoping to eventually minor in music industry. I hope to attend law school in the future, focusing in entertainment law, particularly in music. I want to pursue this career path to provide inclusivity in the music industry, specifically to poc and to eventually change the dynamic of the music business to benefit and protect individual artists. I joined IGNITE to engage myself in the political process, and to help provide a community at UCLA that empowers and supports womxn, but to also be part of a group that creates a safe space for womxn.

Please welcome our Internal Vice President for the 2020-2021 school year, Sedina Velić! ✨
Sedina Velic is a fourth-year Political Science and Communication double major. Coming from a family of Bosnian refugees, Sedina is interested in giving back to the women most affected by the Yugoslavian war. Having lobbied in DC and worked in USAC’s Office of the External Vice President, she also wants to continue advocating for the needs of students and marginalized communities within the United States, focusing on basic needs and women’s reproductive rights. In the future, Sedina hopes to continue advocating through non-profit work and grassroots organizing. Sedina joined IGNITE to surround herself with powerful women and encourage more women to become engaged in politics.

Please welcome our Marketing Director for the 2020-2021 school year, Michael Yang! ✨
Michael Yang will be serving as the marketing director for IGNITE at UCLA during the 2020-2021 school year. Michael is a rising senior studying political science and history, and hopes to one day attend law school and become a patent lawyer. Having worked and interned for different political advocacy groups, Michael realizes the importance of minority representation in politics, and is passionate about political efficacy. He recognizes the need for representation and empowerment of womxn in American and global society, especially within politics. Michael hopes to work with other board members to create a Bruin community that is more aware, inclusive, and empowering.

Shuntae is a third-year student majoring in Political Science and is interested in pursuing a career in Public Relations/ Consulting in the future. She joined IGNITE because she believes in the importance of promoting women in politics and advocating for a more equal government that addresses the gender gap and enacts policies that will benefit all of society. She hopes to gain valuable skills she can apply to the rest of her time at UCLA and upon graduating.

Please welcome our Treasurer for the 2020-2021 school year, Allanah Smith! ✨
Allanah Smith will be serving as the Treasurer of IGNITE at UCLA for the 2020-2021 school year! Allanah is a second year Pre-Public Affairs major with a minor in African American Studies. She is interested in pursuing a MPP and a JD. She plans to work for the local government in the future, as well as running her own law firm. Allanah joined IGNITE because she is passionate about implementing policies that will make a positive affect on her community. She also wants to advocate for underrepresented communities through her law degree and give back to her community. Allanah plans to further IGNITE’s message and platform to many other young women who are passionate about politics, and bring awareness to various political issues onto UCLA’s campus.

Please welcome one of our Membership Chairs for the 2020-2021 school year, Sara Gibson! ✨
Sara Gibson will be serving as one of the Membership Chairs for IGNITE at UCLA. She is currently a first-year majoring in Pre-Public Affairs with minors in History and Disability Studies. She is interested in attending law school and specializing in civil rights cases. This is Sara’s first year at IGNITE, and she was drawn to the club because of their support for women who want to run for office in the future. Sara is very passionate about criminal justice reform, closing the gender wage gap, and raising access to students’ mental health services across the nation; she hopes to gain more leadership skills to promote these causes while in IGNITE.

Having worked in both local and federal government, she recognizes the need for more womxn representation in the fight for expansive and progressive rights.
