Los Angeles County agencies are aware of and actively monitoring the hazardous materials incident involving an unstable chemical storage tank at a manufacturing facility in Garden Grove.

The Orange County Fire Authority and Orange County Health Care Agency are leading the mutual aid response and evacuations are currently limited to the Orange County cities of Garden Grove, Westminster, Anaheim, Stanton, Buena Park and Cypress.

Based on the latest update from Orange County officials, including current wind conditions, there is not a current threat to LA County communities. LA County officials are continuing to coordinate with public health, emergency management, and hazardous materials teams, while maintaining communication with the cities of Lakewood, Long Beach, and Hawaiian Gardens.

Local officials stand ready to respond if needed.

Department of Public Health and South Coast Air Quality Management District are working with the Orange County Fire Authority and Orange County Health Care Agency to monitor air quality and conditions around the site.
