This Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Monthā We introduce another one of our proud 9-1-1 dispatchers.
āAs a proud Cambodian American, I carry the strength and traditions of my family, who came to the U.S. as refugees in the early 1980s after surviving the Khmer Rouge. With little more than the clothes on our backs, we brought with us a deep cultural heritageācolorful festival dances, vibrant music, and food that tells stories of resilience and joy. The Khmer community continues to help shape the cultural tapestry of Southern California.
For nearly 20 years, Iāve served the City of Los Angeles as a Police Service Representative III. Iām proud to help build stronger, more respectful connections with the diverse communities we serve every day.
Outside of work, my greatest joy is my family. My husband of 9 years, Nnamdi, is our steady rockāleading with love, patience, and calm in the middle of lifeās chaos. Our children, Kosi and Naya, light up our world. Kosi is our thoughtful math whiz, and Naya brings boundless creativity and energy that keeps us all on our toes. Whether weāre chasing sunsets across the world or trying a new local dish, every day with them is full of love, laughter, and adventure.ā

In celebration of heritage month, meet one of our newest Police Service Representatives.
āMy name is Taylor Yamaguchi, and this is my first year working as a Police Service Representative with the LAPD. In the short time Iāve been here, I can proudly say this has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Iāve met so many incredible people who all share a common passion for serving the great city of Los Angeles and its communities.
As a third-generation Japanese American, working near Little Tokyo has allowed me to stay closely connected to my roots. Whether itās the delicious food, the vibrant murals, or the deep sense of history, Iām constantly reminded of my culture and heritage.
Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month is a powerful reminder of the sacrifices and achievements of those who came before us. Itās because of their hard work and resilience that I have the opportunities I do today. Their legacy inspires me to keep pushing forwardāso that future generations can thrive and continue building on the foundation theyāve laid.ā
