When working in Michelin-starred environments and James Beard-recognized restaurants, Chef Collin wasn’t only navigating the demands of a high-stakes culinary career, but also a deeply personal battle: a brain cancer diagnosis. This eventually led him to step away from the star-studded culinary world and seek something that gave him purpose and made a difference, ultimately leading him to HoFoCo. He also became an ambassador for , a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness and providing support around mental health in hospitality worldwide.

Chef Collin recently celebrated four years with HoFoCo, and we couldn’t be more grateful to have him on our team. He brings skill, passion, and immense care to his work and cooking. We’re honored that he chose to share his story with our community.

Our Wellness team acts as the glue, connecting our guests to our wellness partners. Learn about some instances when Mary, our Wellness Program manager, was able to help our guests get the resources they needed.

Some people don’t have the luxury of a coffee every day. A monthly gift—the price of a few coffees—can help ensure families across Los Angeles have consistent access to food.

Today on Stop Food Waste Day we are highlighting a bakery that really embodies what it means to care about your community and commit to ending food waste: Proof Bakery. We are big fans of , and the love and care they put into their delicious pastries, and for showing up for their neighbors. Thank you!

LA Urban Farms has been donating fresh greens from their aeroponic tower gardens since January 2024. Recently they donated a Tower Garden which has allowed us to bring in a steady supply of fresh herbs into our kitchen, grown by us! It’s a meaningful way we can stay connected to the food we serve. This Earth Day we want to celebrate our partnership with , and the wonderful day we shared with Wendy and Tara cooking with the greens that we grew. Thank you LA Urban Farms for your dedication and generosity, and Happy Earth Day to our community!

Over the weekend we celebrated our volunteers with a BBQ, cake, new merch, and a giveaway! We are immensely grateful to every single volunteer who literally fuels our organization as they collectively dedicated 14,000+ hours towards HoFoCo last year. Their hard work and giving spirit are what allows us to feed Los Angeles every day of the year. Thank YOU for your love and dedication, we couldn’t do it without you!

Through the campaign, we raffled SharkNinja kitchen products and the Global Cookbook, created in collaboration with Blue Shield of CA Foundation to volunteers!

This month visit Friends and Family’s East Hollywood location to enjoy the tasty Macro Bowl all while supporting HoFoCo.

Friends and Family has been diverting their excess food to us for the past 6 years, and together we have been able to avoid producing over 6.20 metric tons of CO2 emissions! Throughout April, 10% of proceeds from Friends and Family’s Macro Bowl will be donated to HoFoCo to help us continue our sustainability efforts.

We are grateful to be in partnership with the wonderful team at Friends and Family that share our passion for good food and less waste.
