🌳 Tree Ambassador - Promotor Forestal Program Update! 🌳 We are thrilled to share that our team of 10 talented Tree Ambassadors is halfway through the program! They have completed eight rigorous trainings where they learned about the importance of urban forestry, the barriers to urban greening and how to overcome them, the significance of community organizing, and much more!
During the trainings, they have gained valuable insights into the concept of the right tree, right place, and right reason and its significance in enhancing the quality of life in our urban areas. And to put their knowledge into action, they were given an opportunity to plant their first tree las month in South LA!
Our TAs have shown great enthusiasm and dedication towards their mission, and we can't wait to see what they will accomplish in the next few months. Stay tuned for our next update to learn more about our amazing ambassadors and their journey towards creating a greener and healthier urban environment!

Meet the NASA DEVELOP National Program Los Angeles Urban Development team! City Plants, NASA DEVELOP, and the Los Angeles Office of City Forest Management have joined forces to study how tree cover can reduce heat in the community. 🌳🌡️
Using NASA Earth observations, the partnership aimed to provide data-based insights on the benefits of trees. 🛰️🌳 The team's research in LA found that green spaces have a positive impact on the local climate and that, during summer months, areas with more vegetation display significantly cooler temperatures. The results from this study will support the implementation of urban greening practices, while informing residents and officials about how investing in trees helps mitigate increasing heat here in Los Angeles.
