We pullin' up to the polls — and you're coming with us.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, June 2, A Step to Freedom is hosting a Voter Registration Drive + FREE rides to the polls out of our headquarters. No car? We got you. Not registered yet? We'll handle that on the spot. Already registered and just need a lift? Pull up anyway — the ride's still free.

And real talk for our folks rebuilding after a conviction: in California, if you're not currently in state or federal prison, your vote still counts. Parole, probation, county jail, awaiting trial — you can register and vote. Period. Not sure where you stand? Come through and we'll help you check.

👉 Swipe for the polling spots we're driving to, save this post, and tag somebody who needs a ride.

Today, we honor the courageous men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their bravery and selflessness will never be forgotten. As we gather with family and community, we pause to remember those who gave everything for the freedoms we hold today. 🇺🇸

Look who showed up.

The ASF team laced up and hit the pavement for 2026 — because the work we do every day doesn’t stop at the office. Walking together for a stronger, more connected LA, where everyone has a real shot at a fresh start.

Proud of this crew. Proud of this city. Proud of every step.

The moments that made April 30 matter. ➡️

Slide through and see what happened when community members, vendors, speakers, and a whole lot of purpose came together under one roof.

A keynote that moved the room
Workshops on entrepreneurship/job placement, family reunification, and mental health
Connections made at the resource fair that are already turning into real support
A closing panel that reminded us — none of us do this work alone

Thank you to everyone who was in the building. And to everyone who donated or shared from wherever you were — you were felt in that room too.

📸 Tag yourself. Share your favorites. Keep the momentum going.

Happy Second Chance Awareness Month!

Our participants spent the day at Exposition Park visiting the Natural History Museum, the California African American Museum, and the California Science Center.

For many, this was a first—an opportunity to engage with spaces that inspire learning, culture, and curiosity.

Experiences like this are more than outings—they are part of how we support growth, confidence, and new perspectives.

We’re grateful to the museum teams, our partners, vendors, and staff who helped make this day possible.

This is what access in action looks like.

Michael has officially transitioned into permanent housing after completing our program! This is what hope in action looks like — and we couldn’t be more proud.

Help us continue this life-changing work. Every donation makes a difference. https://bit.ly/DONATEASF
