-We offer a certificate program. Successful completion is noted on your transcripts and a formal Certificate is issued and signed by the CSULA President.
-We are the home of the Los Angeles County Superior Court Dependency Court/ CSULA Partnership. Past fieldwork placements include: Free Arts, Children's Law Center, and the office of the presiding judge with a focus on research and adoption. Certificate Curriculum Requirements:
The Certificate Program consists of 15 units:

9 core units, 3 elective units, and 3 units of fieldwork. Theoretical, conceptual, and practical experiences lead to a multidisciplinary view of relevant issues, process, and systems involved in child abuse and family violence. CHDV 4120 (3 Units) – Issues in Child Abuse, Neglect and Family Violence

COMD 3190 (3 Units) – Communicating with Abused Children and Violent Families

SW 4560 (3 Units) – Multidisciplinary Teams, Child Maltreatment and Family Violence


ELECTIVE (3 Units):

Take one elective course from page 2 of the application. Elective units investigate special interests in maltreatment and violence at greater depth. FIELDWORK (3 Units):

Register for HHS 4950 (Fieldwork in Health and Human Services) under Institute Director Dr. Rakel Delevi. The fieldwork experience is an opportunity to apply course learning and provides a window for future career opportunities. Social Work students may be able to have their SW 4951 course count in lieu of HHS 4950. For more information, please refer to the application found on our website or reach out to our program staff. Admission Requirements:

-Registered CSULA students with a degree program (undergraduate, credential, and graduate [M.A.])
-Upper division standing
-Completion of 60 semester units of B.A. level college work
-GPA (Grade Point Average) of 2.0 or higher
-Completion and submission of the application forms that are available online

After you apply:
- Keep track on your courses, and keep in touch with program staff to assist your Certificate completion, especially when planning the fieldwork. Upon completing the requirements:
Pay certificate fee, bring your unofficial transcript to the program office, and fill out the Certificate Request Form.
