The Eurovision Song Contest continues to bring people together through music, culture, diversity, and a shared European spirit — even across the Atlantic. It was a wonderful evening filled with great performances, lively conversations, and the unique energy that makes Eurovision so special. 🇪🇺

A special thank you to the Honorary Consulate of Sweden in Los Angeles, in cooperation with the Mayor of the City of West Hollywood, John Heilman, for organizing this wonderful event at the iconic Sunset Marquis.

Last night AT CG Christine Moser attended the Opening Night Gala for the 20th edition of the LA Jewish Film Festival, opening with the premiere of The Hollywood Rabbi, a documentary directed by Jon Kean about Rabbi Hier’s remarkable life and legacy – from the Simon Wiesenthal Center, to the Museum of Tolerance in L.A., to that in Jerusalem, to building bridges with Israel’s neighbors.

Arnold Schwarzenegger himself came to honor his long-time friend and partner in fostering tolerance and the narrative of a common humanity.

Congratulations to Hilary Helstein, Executive Director, Los Angeles Jewish Film Festival, on 20 years.

🇪🇺 On May 9, we celebrate the starting point of today's European Union, established with the Schuman Declaration of 1950.

Europe Day serves as a reminder of what the EU stands for: democracy, the rule of law, freedom, and equality.

🇪🇺 Europe Day Proclamation at Los Angeles City Hall

Today, Consul General Christine Moser attended the Proclamation of Europe Day by the Los Angeles City Council at City Hall in Downtown Los Angeles.
Councilmember McOsker delivered the official proclamation in recognition of Europe Day.
To mark the occasion, Los Angeles City Hall will be illuminated in the colors of the European Union this evening ahead of Europe Day on May 9th.

The Austrian curator and writer (Dr.) Doris Berger shared her expertise about exile and émigré filmmakers who had to flee Europe and helped shape Hollywood at this year’s TCM Classic Film Festival! Many of these film talents were Austrian-Jewish descent, such as director Billy Wilder, actress Hedy Lamarr, or composer Erich Wolfgang Korngold.

Moderated by TCM host Eddie Muller, Doris Berger shared the panel with Monika Henreid, daughter of acclaimed Austrian actor Paul Henreid, and professor Annette Insdorf. It was a truly informative and inspiring conversation and we thank Doris Berger to bring her knowledge about this important legacy to the world.

Consuls General in Los Angeles had a substantive meeting with Laura Bowen Wills, Head of Protocol and International Affairs for LA28, for a first debrief on preparations ahead of LA28.
Following the FIFA World Cup 2026, which will take place across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, yet another major international event is coming up in Los Angeles: the Olympic and Paralympic Games LA28.

On April 12, Consul General Christine Moser joined the Yom HaShoah commemoration organized by the Holocaust Museum Los Angeles.
The ceremony featured powerful messages by Guy Lipa, Laura Friedman, Mayor Sharona Nazarian, Beth Kean, Henry Slucki, and Mayor Karen Bass:
“Unity is our strength”, “Build your voice”, “Never again is NOW”.

On April 8, Mr. Patrick Dumont took the oath of office as the new Austrian Honorary Consul for the district of Nevada. 🇦🇹
Consul General Moser expressed her heartfelt congratulations on his appointment.
