Exciting updates for Hollywood!
We’re extending the Hollywood Safety and Mobility Project! Phase 2 adds protected bike lanes on Sunset Boulevard from Hillhurst Avenue to Fountain Avenue, closing a key gap in our street network and connecting existing lanes on Hollywood and Sunset.
This project will also make navigating the complex intersection of Hollywood, Sunset, Hillhurst, Virgil, and Sunset Drive much safer and easier for everyone walking, biking, and driving.
As we finalize the design and prepare for an early 2027 implementation, we want to hear from you!

What can bike ridership tell us about planning safer streets? 🚲
UCLA graduate Anthony Salazar worked with LADOT to explore how data can help identify where better bike connections are needed. His work earned the 2026 UCLA Institute of Transportation Studies Capstone Award!
Hear from Anthony, then read more about his research in our weekly brief: https://ladot.lacity.gov/dotnews/weekly-update-august-06-2026

📢 Bike and walking data are in! From corridors like Hollywood Blvd to major bike routes along the LA River, collecting active travel data helps us understand how people use our streets and where we need safer infrastructure next!

Did you know? Over 92,000 active travelers were counted across 82 locations in our city, with walking making up 80,000 of those trips!

LADOT have installed new left-turn phasing signals at two busy intersections in the Valley to help reduce conflicts, improve visibility, and keep traffic moving safely:

-Chandler Blvd and Woodman Ave
-Lassen St and Winnetka Ave

Designated left-turn signals give turning drivers a dedicated green light, making it easier and safer to navigate these corridors whether you’re driving, walking, or biking through the area!
