We took a bite out of Apple Crunch Day! 🍎
We partnered with JJB Family Farms to bite into their California-grown Modi® apples and celebrate fresh apples, Farm to School, and the simple fun of enjoying fresh produce together!

We’re excited to spotlight California Grown Modi® Apples from JJB Family Farms in our October Harvest of the Month lineup; and they’ll also be the star of our Apple Crunch Day celebration!

The produce in the spotlight today is Brown Pears from Scully Packing Company, LLC. . Originally from France and Europe today they’re grown all over the world but these are from Finley California.

Showcasing Organic California-grown Bonita Sweet Potatoes from Doreva Produce Company, inc. ! They originally cultivated by Louisiana State University to be milder, less dense and have a starchier consistency than typical sweet potatoes. These characteristics make Bonitas make great ingredients in both sweet and savory dishes.

This week’s Produce in the Spotlight is our one of our school Harvest of the Month items: California grown Yellow Watermelon!
Like it’s red counterpart, yellow watermelon is crisp, juicy and naturally sweet and with that fun color it’s a great addition to school meals.
Through our Harvest of the Month program Valley connects students with fresh seasonal produce while supporting California agriculture by bringing more locally grown options, like this watermelon from the San Joaquin and Imperial Valleys, to school menus!

Meet one of the fresh picks in our August Harvest of the Month lineup: California-Grown Green Plums! 🌱☀️

Bright, crisp, juicy, and perfectly sweet-tart, green plums are a fun seasonal fruit that may look a little different from the plums students are used to seeing and that’s part of what makes them so fun to try!

Their vibrant green color and refreshing flavor make them a great way to introduce students to something new while celebrating fresh California grown produce!

Check out these US grown black grapes. Despite their dark coloration they’re not so different to their green counterparts being sweet, juicy and high in vitamin C, K, and potassium.
