Economic transformation in Germany depends on investment and stable framework conditions.

The Federal Government is mobilizing €1.1 trillion to support structural change in key sectors. At the same time, reforms aim to improve planning processes, accelerate administrative procedures, and strengthen fiscal stability.

The Invest in Germany Summit (October 19-20 2026, Berlin) is focusing on how these measures can be combined with international collaboration to drive innovation, enhance resilience, and create the conditions for growth.

Long-term investment decisions depend on more than market potential. Legal certainty, economic stability and access to customers also matter.

Germany combines these conditions in the center of the European market.

You know what your fall calendar needs? German film! The American Film Institute and Canva present the 40th edition of AFI FEST kicking off this week at two of old Hollywood’s most iconic movie houses: the TLC Chinese Theatre and the Egyptian.

The festival has a full schedule all week long of German films from feature lengths to shorts including Germany’s official submission for the 99th Academy Awards (EVERYTIME). Some conversations give you plenty to think about afterwards. Our latest meeting of the EU Heads of Mission in Los Angeles with Dee Dee Myers was definitely one of them.

As Senior Advisor to Governor Gavin Newsom and Director of California’s Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz), Dee Dee Myers brings decades of experience at the intersection of politics, government and business.

We had a frank, in-depth and off-the-record conversation about California’s economy, trade and investment, the transatlantic relationship and the political environment shaping all of them.

For the EU member states in Los Angeles, strengthening transatlantic trade and business ties is a key priority - and conversations like this one provide exactly the kind of insight and perspective that help us do our job.

A big thank you to Dee Dee Myers for the time, the candor and plenty of brainfood!

This is what Germany’s diplomatic network around the globe looks like when you bring it together in one place - at the conference of German Heads of Mission, aka .

As Germany’s representative in Los Angeles, Consul General Sasse joined colleagues from around the world in Berlin at a particularly relevant time: just after the state election in Saxony-Anhalt and amid a domestic debate about reforms and Germany’s political and economic direction.

The conversation with Bundeskanzler Friedrich Merz Friedrich Merz focused on key issues shaping Germany right now: strengthening competitiveness at home while navigating a challenging international environment - from Russia’s war in Ukraine and European security to transatlantic relations and growing geopolitical and economic competition.

For CG Sasse and her colleagues representing Germany in the United States that international picture quickly becomes very concrete. In a dedicated US session with Außenminister Johann Wadephul Johann Wadephul, Transatlantic Coordinator Metin Hakverdi and senior Foreign Office leadership, we discussed German-American relations and bilateral opportunities as well as issues we are dealing with on the ground. Security, digitalization and AI were other major themes at rhetorical conference, including in remarks by Mark Rutte.

Trade and business also had an entire day of their own, with discussions on competitiveness, investment, supply chains, AI, cleantech and Europe’s role in the global economy.

CG Sasse took that conversation beyond , too: Together with her colleague in Miami, CG Christofer Burger German Consulate General Miami, and at the invitation of DIHK, they met with members of the Transatlantic Business Initiative for a focused exchange on German-U.S. economic relations.

A lot to take back to LA - and plenty of work ahead for our team across the consular district.

Hear from Minister Pistorius about his meetings in Washington this week!

Strong defense cooperation rests not only on military-to-military ties, but also on broad political support and a strong defense industry on both sides of the Atlantic.

Therefore, following his talks with U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Minister Pistorius visited Raytheon, the manufacturer behind the Patriot systems and guided missiles Germany procures from the U.S.

He then headed to Capitol Hill, where he sat down with Congressman Mike Turner (senior member of the House Armed Services Committee) as well as Senators Roger Wicker and Jack Reed (the chairman and ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee) to discuss defense priorities as they pertain to the collective partnership, including Russia’s war against Ukraine and Germany’s commitment to shouldering more responsibility within NATO’s collective defense.

Minister Pistorius’ meetings in Washington underscored just how strong our partnership is.
