In case anyone was wondering, the IRS made a mistake and simply waived the $2,300 to get YLOA back on track, effective immediately. We will post the paper from the IRS in 10 to 15 days when we receive it. Thanks for understanding. 👍

Despite the ongoing efforts, the number of missing persons cases continues to rise each year. My own sister, who suffers from schizophrenia, has been missing for four months from right here in inner city Los Angeles, but we still hold onto hope for cases like Ms. Guthrie Sr.

Schizophrenic individuals often go missing in America due to a combination of severe symptoms like paranoia and delusions, which drive them to isolate or flee, and high rates of homelessness stemming from a fractured mental health system. Factors such as medication non-compliance, social stigma, and lack of family support contribute to them becoming vulnerable to disappearing, frequently traveling, or cutting off contact with loved ones.
Key reasons for this, as shown in studies from Psychology Today and other sources, include:
Psychotic Symptoms: Paranoia, hallucinations, and delusions can cause individuals to run away from perceived dangers or follow irrational, inward-driven urges to abandon their lives.
Homelessness and Social Isolation: A significant number of individuals with schizophrenia experience homelessness, and this population is highly susceptible to becoming lost or disconnected from society.
Disconnection from Care: Due to poor insight into their illness or distrust, many stop taking medication and stop seeing doctors, leading to acute crises that result in vanishing.
Stigma and Rejection: Family stress, stigma, and social rejection often lead to isolation, with individuals choosing to disappear rather than face these pressures.
Systemic Failures: A lack of available, long-term, and accessible community mental health services often leaves people with severe schizophrenia unsupported.
These factors mean that when a person with schizophrenia goes missing, they may be living on the streets, have travelled to a new location, or be in hiding, often without the ability to seek help, say experts.

I finally found data on MacArthur Park. I guess I wasn't looking or wording it according to Google. Remember, we live a half mile from this park. 😒

What a Christmas! We had a pretty big party for street youth, and afterwards, I asked them to sign a paper, telling them they could go by their nickname. Many people were helped and friendships were made. Thanks to the two volunteers! We feel blessed to be a blessing! Thank you for your support! ✝️ ❤️
