SIP is a voice over IP protocol that shows up in many of the latest and greatest phones from the best phone equipment manufacturers. Many people think that VOIP phone calls are cheap and low quality but SIP trunks provide higher quality of service and sound great. SIP phones also offer the most advanced new features and lowest overall cost structure. My company does not sell but does use SIP phone equipment.

LATA Local Access and Transport Area
The LATA refers to the region served by telephone companies providing local phone service. More than one local exchange carrier or phone company can serve a LATA region. Calls made in the LATA geographic area are labeled intraLATA. A phone call from one LATA to another LATA is called interLATA or inter state. These term are most frequently seen on phone bills.

What is a T1?

A T1 is a local loop connection to the phone company local serving office that carries voice and data at 1.544 megabits per second. A long time ago, T-1 connections were considered state of the art technology. Today most people have faster internet connections at home. A T1 carries a guarantee or Service Level Agreement for network reliability.
