🚦 Highlight reel from the California Highway Patrol’s annual Police Vehicle Evaluation for the 2027 model-year fleet!

Our EVOC instructors put the latest law-enforcement vehicles from Dodge, GM, and Ford through their paces — acceleration & top-speed runs, vehicle dynamics, high-altitude testing, braking, and a full pursuit course. Every lap, every stop, every data point helps ensure law enforcement have the safest, most capable patrol vehicles on the road.

Huge thank you to the OEM teams at , , and for bringing their vehicles and expertise. The ride and drive was a huge success, and our attendees were thrilled to get behind the wheel of the new models.

And shout-out to all the vendors who showed up with the latest equipment, tech, and support — your partnership makes these evaluations possible!

🚨 Teen Driver Alert 🚨

Starting your driving journey or know someone who will be? California Highway Patrol's official Start Smart app provides teen drivers with a step-by-step guide to earning their California driver license, from preparing for the permit to completing required driving hours.

The app also features a driving log, trip tracking, helpful resources, and locations for free Start Smart classes designed to help teens understand the responsibilities that come with being a licensed driver.

El Niño Weather Advisory! 🌧️

With El Niño bringing the potential for increased rainfall, be prepared for wet weather and possible flooding. Flooded roads are extremely dangerous — just a few inches of moving water can sweep a vehicle away.

Key reminders:
• Slow down and increase following distance.
• Turn on your headlights when your wipers are in use.
• Turn Around, Don’t Drown — never drive through flooded roadways.

Avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain. If you must travel, use caution and check Caltrans QuickMap for road conditions and closures.

Stay prepared, and as always, drive safe, California!

🚨 THREE CRASHES. SAME LOCATION. LESS THAN TWO WEEKS. 🚨

Three separate crashes. Three vehicles crashing into sand-filled crash attenuators at the westbound I-10 to I-110 freeway transition—all within less than two weeks.

Of the three crashes, two resulted in arrests for suspicion of DUI. Fortunately, no major injuries were reported.

⚠️ The CHP reminds all motorists:

🚫 NEVER DRIVE IMPAIRED. Alcohol, drugs, and driving are a dangerous combination. One poor decision can have irreversible consequences.

📵 STAY FOCUSED. Put the phone down, eliminate distractions, and keep your eyes on the road. A split second of inattention can change lives forever.

🚙 SPEED LIMITS APPLY 24/7. Whether it’s rush hour or 3:00 a.m., speed limits are not optional. Slow down, especially when approaching freeway transitions, curves, lane changes, and stopped emergency vehicles.

Crash attenuators are designed to absorb impact and reduce the severity of collisions—but they are not a substitute for responsible driving.

These three crashes serve as a reminder that dangerous driving decisions can have serious consequences, regardless of the time of day.

Drive sober. Stay alert. Respect the speed limit. Arrive alive.

The California Highway Patrol remains committed to removing impaired and dangerous drivers from our roadways through proactive enforcement.

CTC I-26 is on the move! 🏃‍♂️

Today, 119 cadets hit the pavement for their run from the CHP Academy to the State Capitol!

With graduation just around the corner this Friday, friends and family showed up to cheer them on and support them as they near the finish line of their academy journey.

One more milestone before these future officers earn their badges!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

California Highway Patrol stands with those affected by breast cancer, including survivors, those currently fighting, caregivers, families, and loved ones.

Throughout the month, you may notice CHP officers wearing a breast cancer awareness pin on their uniforms; a small symbol of support for those affected by this disease.

Breast cancer can impact anyone. Early detection can make a difference, so take the time to know your risk, schedule recommended screenings, and encourage the people you love to do the same.

Together, we can raise awareness, show support, and remind those facing breast cancer that they are never alone. 💗
